Treating: Wrong Disease. I Many times women call on their family (physicians, suffering, as they Imagine, 'one frpjn dyspepsia, another from heart .disease another from liver or kidney disease another from nervous exhaustion or prostration, another with pain here and there, and in this way they all present alike to themselves and their easy-going and indifferent, or over-busy doctor, separate and distinct diseases, for which he, assuming them to be such, prescribes his pills and potions. In reality, they are all only tymptoma caused by some oterlne disease. The physician. Ignorant of the cause of suffering, encourages this practice until large bills are made. The suffering patient gets no better, but probably worse, - by reason of the delay, wrong treatment and consequent complications. A proper-medicine like Dr. Pierce's Favorite Prescription, directed to the cause would have entirely removed the disease, thereby dispelling all those distressing symptoms, and instituting comfort inUlead of prolonged misery. It has been well said, that "a disease known is half cured." Dr. Plerce'i Favorite Prescription Is a scientific medicine, carefully devised by .an experienced and skilifjil .physician, r and adapted-to woman's deleave system. It is made of native medicinal 'roots and Is perfectly harmless in Its effects in any condition of the tytilem. As a powerful Invigorating tonic "Favorite Prescription " Imparts strength to the whole system and to the organs distinctly feminine In particular. For overworked, "worn-out." "run-down," debilitated teachers, milliners, dressmakers, seamstresses, "shop girls," house-keepers, nursing mothers, and feeble women generally. Dr. Pierce's Favorltfl Prescription Is the greatest earthly boon, being unequaled as an appetizing cordial and restorative tonic. As a sootbingrand strengthening nervine "Favorite Prescription " Is unequaled and is Invaluable in allaying and subduing nervous excitability, irritability, nervous exhaustion, nervous prostration, neuralgia, hysteria, spasms, chorea, St. Vitus's dance, and othor distressing, nervous symptoms commonly attendant upon functional and organic disease of the uterus. It induces. refreshing sleep and relieves mental anxiety and despondency. Dr. Pierce's Pleasant Pellets invigorate the stomach, liver and bowels. Ono to three a dose. Easy to take as candy.

CZAR'S REGIMENT

110 LONGER GUARDS

By Special Order They Have Been Transformed Into Infantry Battalion. ARE 0PENLY DISLOYAL GENERAL STAFF NO LONGER CONCEALS ITS FEARS THAT THE ENTIRE ARMY IS PROFOUNDLY SHAKEN. (Publishers' Press St Petersburg, June 29. The Preobrajensky regiment of life guards was degraded as a result of adopting resolutions recently upholding all the actions of parliament and announcing that the regiment wants no more police duty entailing the slaying of brothers and fathers. By imperial order, the regiment is transformed Into a special Infantry battalion and all the privileges pertaining to regiments of the guard have been withdrawn from it. The crushing blow to the emperor by the discovery of dissaffection in his favorite regiment, the PreobrajensKjregiment of life guards, so affected him that he ordered the name of the disloyal first battalion to be stricken from the roll of the Imperial Guards. In addition the soldiers and officers of the battalion have been deprived forever of the rights enjoyed by guards men and hereafter the batttalion will be designated "The Special Infantry Battalion." The general staff no longer conceals Its fears that the morale of the entire army Is profoundly shaken, 'and that with parliament championing the cause of mutineers in each case as it arises, the first big test may find troops line up as the French guards did two days before the Bastile fell, on the side of the people and against the monarchy. Offlcal denial is given of the report and the emperor and court are leaving Peterhof and returning to TsarskooSelo owing to the discovery of a revolution plot among the palace serv ants. The report Is officially account ed for by rumors following the retire ment of General Plesko the commandant at Peterhof and the appointment of Colonel Lermentoff, com mander of the Imperial regiments of Uhlans, as his successor. The for mer's retirement Is stated to be due purely to private considerations, but several officers of his staff are in dignant at the promotion of Colonel Lermentoff over their heads, and have asked to be relieved. This gave rise to the report of the discovery of a revolutionary plot. While the official explanations are regarded with suspi cion, as It 4s beyond question that the terrorists and revolutionists are constantly attempting to gain a foothold in the palace, there Is no cause to doubt the truth of the official statement that the court has no Intention of returning to Tsarkoe-Selo this sum mer. Peterhof, in reality, Is much safer for the Imperial family than Tsarskoe-Selo. ' Root's Southern Trip. Washington. June 29. Secretary Root will accept the hospitality of Chile and make part of his trip along the west coast of South America in a Chilean warship. Secretary Root will probably t be in Rio Janeiro about 10 ten days. His stops on the west coast of South Amerloa will be at Valparaiso, Chile, Callac, Peru and Guayaquil, Ecuador. From Valparaiso he will journey by rail to Santiago, the capital of Chile. He will also take the rail trip from Callao to Lima, the Peruvian capital. The distance from Guayaquil to Quito, capital of Ecuador, is so great that Mr. Root will probably be unable to make the trip. After crossing the isthmus Mr. Root will go to Cartagena, Colombia, which will be his last stop before returning to New York. American Bacon. London, June 29. Replying to several questions respecting the increase of American bacon imports into Ireland, James Bryce, chief secretary for Irsland, said the board of agriculture had ascertained that there was a large increase in 1905 as compared with 1904 in bacon imports, most of which was American of cheaper and inferior quality to the bacon exported from Ireland. So far as the department was aware there had t:an no Inspection of American bacon on importation, but under the health acts any sanitary inspector was empowered to inspect meat and seize it it found unfit for food. High Grade Gasoline Withdrawn. Cleveland, O., June 29. The Standard Oil company sent out circulars notifying all its customers that high grade gasoline, testing from 74 to 76 degrees, has been withdrawn from the market. This action Is taxen as a result of the enormous demand for the product and the Inability of the Standard company to supply the same. The Standard company reduced the selling price of eocene refined oil from 12 H to 11 per gallon. .Ice House Burns. Buffalo, N. Y., June 29. An ice house owned by the Silver Lake Ice company was destroyed by fire. It contained about 10.000 tons of Ice. Total loss, $123,003. Killed and Robbed. Cincinnati. June 29. The body of John Armstrong, of Pittsburg, was found in an alley and murder for the sake of robbery is suspected. One arrest was nrade. Andrew Schultz, with whom Armstrong spent his last evening, says they were attacked on the street by a crowd of negroes, and he insists that his friend must have been attacked later, and that $30 in money, a gold watch and a handsome pin was stolen after he was killed. Armstrong was employed by the Otis Elevator company of Pittsburg.

Vaudeville at the Gennett. Monday afternoon Manager Swisher will again inaugurate vaudeville at the Gennett with a Dill that is believed to be a strong one; at least reports from where the performers have previously appeared Indicate that they have givtra eminent satisfaction. Owing to the fact that the house was rented for two nights this week, which is too serious a break to permit vaudeville, aud that a newwalk has been laid, no effort was made to produce a bill. It is now the intention to go through the summer without another break. The bill that will be introduced on Monday includes Sunetare & Company, the Japanese wonder workers; Herbert and Rogers, dancing marvels; Eddie Lamont, novelty musical act and drum major; Ernest Renk Illustrated songs. Dell and Fonda, peerless club juggling duo; Melroy Trio, comedians, vocalists and dancers; and the Genescope, which shows the latest in the line of motion pictures. Manager Swisher is expecting a repetition of the big business of last week," which was the banner one for the present season. Vaudeville at the Phillips. Manager Murray is confident he has lined up a strong program for next week at the New Phillips, most of those who are to appear having been some weeks on the circuit that includes the New Phillips and they have been highly recommended by the managers at every point. Harriett M. Shad will introduce the bill with some clever character changes and will be followed by Allen and Delmain superior vocalists and pleasing conversationalists in their -jrlght little comedetta entitled, "A Wife's Victory"; Miss Louise Thompson, in illustrated songs; Gordon Idrid, one of the best of the character comedians; the Two Graces, a funny kid and a big man; Charles Gano, the man who sings and talks; McDell and Corbley, in a comedy character musical skit, and the Philoscope, which will show three pleasing motion picture films, entitled "Choosing a Servant," "Troubles of a Fireman," and "Mrs. Brown's Hard Luck." MORE MONEY NEXT YEAR THE ART EXHIBIT PLANS Directors of the Art Association Met Last Night and Discussed Matter of Exhibit for 1907 To Sell 1000 Tickets. At a meeting of the Directors of the Art Association, held last night at the home of the President, Mrs. M. F. Johnson, a number of bills incident to the recent exhibition were presented and ordered paid. There was some discussion in reference to the exhibit next year, it being shown that it will be possible to secure some new things for the Richmond public. Financial methods were considered and next year a more systematic effort will be made to ;a:se a fund for the exhibit, it being especially desired to sell one thousand membership tickets at fifty cents each, which would not only raise a liberal fund but would at that same time enlist the interest of a large number of people. The financial showing this year was quite satisfactory. Governor's Appointments. Columbus, O., June 29. The first appointments made by Governor Harris were: Colonel Worthington Kautzman of Bellefontaine, for assistant adjutant general; Judge Noah H. Swayne of Toledo, reappointed member of the state board of arbitration; Roscoe J. Mauck of Gallipolis, trustee of Athens state" hospital, to succeed Virgil C. Lowry, whose term expired. Almodovar' Successor. Madrid, June 29. Senor Perez Cabellero, Spanish ambassador to Italy, was appointed minister of foreign affairs in succession to the late Duke of Almodovar.
