UKlt Ur HAW Along Broadway It is Said that White Insulted thaw's. Pretty Wife. GREAT TRIAL EXPECTED EXAMINATION OF THAW VAS MADE BY PHYSICIANS AND IT IS SAID THAT HE SHOWED TRAITS OF INSANITY. Pubifshers Press New York, June 26. Tonight it is reported along Broadway in the theatre district, that the motive for the murder of Sanford White by Harry Kendall Thaw, was a remark passed by White three hours before the tragedy. White was sitting at a table in Martin's when Thaw and wife passed. He leaned over and said to Truxton Beale: "There she goes. She is anybody's property. She is only a whale." ... , , This - is vouched for . by some persons who will be introduced as witnesses. . : -r ' Thaw happened at White's elbow, and leaning. over- the table shook- his finger In his face, saying: "Damn you I'll get you for this yet. You'll eat those words." Later , White ,and Beale left the table and went out on the balcony to liquid refreshments.- . In passing Mrs. Thaw, White, it is averred, tapped her most familiarly upon the shoulder, and said something In a' low' voice which could not be,jEeard by anyone-else., , Lorag Letter to Dine. It Is also alleged that . among a bunch of letters which Mrs. Thaw gave to " her husband's attorneys that there is a letter dated Saturday and bearing 'White's signature, the import of which Is an invitation to dine with him at his "bachelor apartments" in the Madison Square' building, r -The note Is couched in very familiar terms and reads as though he were very confident of her accepting. Mrs. Thaw admits that upon the receipt of. the epistle, she handed It to her husband Immediately. ' . - , At midnight it was reported that Thaw was sleeping , soundly in' his cell; No; 220 in Murderers' Row at the Tombs. ; .... - - .. t A "Plea "of Insanity. v This trial .will probably prove the companion trial to the Nan Patterson action.' ' The plea of insanity may be entered. Yesterday afternoon Thaw was examined by Drs. Austin Flint and Chas. McDonald, but their conclusions as to his sanity were withheld. It was stated on good authority that the doctors found Thaw's condition to Indicate emotional insanity. If this be so there will be no public trial and

HUBERT SIMELEf STRUCK OH HEAD

Well Known Young Man Mysteriously Assaulted in Court House Yard. $2.50 OF M0WEY GONE CASE HAS AN ELEMENT OF MYSTERY ABOUT IT SNAVELEY SAYS HE DID NOT SEE PERSON WHO HIT HIM. Hubert Snaveley, 17 years, the son of John Snaveley, of West Richmond, was mysteriously struck on the head sometime last night and rendered unconscious. Young Snaveley, in 4ossession of $2.50, went to the vaudeville last evening with Harold Kinert. After the show they returned to West Richmond where Snaveley complained of a severe headache. He retraced his steps to Quigley's drug store and purchased a bromo seltzer. Feeling very faint, he went across the street and took a seat upon one of the benches in the court house yard. While there he says that he was struck a vicious blow upon the head, which knocked him for ward, to his knees. How long the boy lay in the state he cannot tell, but it must have been about half-past one. this morning that he regained consciousness, for the night watchman at Robinson's shop noticed him at 1:40 'half running and staggering down West Main. By the time the watchman had crossed to the office entrance the Snaveley had slowed up to a walk and almost immediately fell toward a tree and to the ground. When Snaveley was reached he had become un conscious again. An ambulance and police call was sent in. Just before the wagon came the boy seemed to be "coming to" and muttered, "He something struck me on the e head." He gave vent to groans and seemed to be in great pain. On investigation a bump was found on the right side to the back of f his head. He had regained , partial consciousness by the i arrival' of the ambulance and did not ' want to be put in. He seemed to fear that such a home coming would frighten his parents, but was persuaded that it was best. On arrival he was taken into the house and put to bed, and a surgeon called.
