WATERMELONS ARE A CERTAIN HARBINGER OF SUMMERFLORIDA 8PECIMENS. The watermelon that most certain of all harbingers of real summer has come to Richmond and la now offered for the first time at wholesale. Florida Is responsible for the opening of the watermelon season and the fruit Is already coming to Indiana by the car load. Melons received thus far are of the short, almost spherical variety, the "longs" coming later. Prices are unusually low for the first melons of the year, $35.00 a hundred being asked.

Receipts 2,500 hogs, 250 cattle and 100 sheep', against 1,740 hogs, 212 cattle and 55 sheep one week ago and 1,737 hogs and 327 cattle one year ago. The hog market closed steady compared with high prices of Saturday. Receipts were not large. Leading packers were the principal buyers. Shippers took a few choice light hogs in the lata market. Cattle Market Unchanged. The cattle market showed no change from, the close of last Friday. Receipts were light and included only common grades. Sheepiand Lambs Steady.
