8.500 hogs. 1.600 cattle and 150 sheep against 4,305 hogs, 1,176 cattle and 12 sheep one week ago and 7,708 hogs 1,321 cattle and 170 sheep one year ago. The hog market closed with price3 weak. There was a big run of stock and some buyers hammered the mar ket. Liberal late arrivals had little effect, although the big buyers had filled their orders the late hogs were taken at steady prices. The choice light kinds were in strong demand and sold on an even basis with the choice heavy grades. The top was $6.65. There were several loads of good heavy hogs that sold at this price. Heavy and light grades were a common sale at $$6.62. There were many sales of mixed kinds at $6.60. Cattle Prices Unchanged. The cattle market closed with val ues practically unchangeable. There was a big run and buyers bid lower, but finally took the butcher grades of cows and heifers at steady prices. There was practically no demand for steers on sale and dealers had to peddle them. Where sales were made the market was steady with like kinds yesterday, but lower than the high time last week. Good butcher cows and heifers sold well. Heifers sold for $3, while good cows brought $4.50. Bulls sold steady while veal calve3 were strong to 23c higher. There were many sales of veals at $6.75. Lambs Are Lower. The sheep and lamb market suffer ed a reaction. Spring lambs were sell ing lower, owing to the advancing season. It was estimated that prices on good spring lambs were off $1.00 to $1.50 from last week. Clipped lamb sold steady with recent sales. Sheep sold for $4.004.50. Cattle.
