Local dealers took all the strawberries that were offered them yesterday, and the berries were disposed of to the trade almost as faet ts the dealers could buy them. If yesterday was a criterion this will be a great week for strawberries, which are selling at 10 cents per quart. Taere is aso a big demand for rhubarb and the oealers fortunately are able to keep a good supply on hand to meet this demand. Lemons are gradually getting higher. With the California crop somewhat short, Messina lemons have become leaders somewhat earlier In the season than usual. Messinas are higher in price than lemons grown In this country.

There was only one load of I fancy heavy hogs on Bale good enough 1 to bring the top price of Saturday. There were two loads of heavy hogs of medium quality that brought $6.62. The decline of 5c was made in ight and mixed grades. All buyers were in the field, and a bearish feeling prevailed. As light and mixed grades were in the majority, prices were lopped off 5c. Packers took the bulk of the offerings. The market was soon cleared up. Sales ranged from SG.45&6.65, with the bulk selling at $6.55S6.60. Cattle Prices Were Lower. The catte market closed fully 10c lower. Receipts were light. Trade was slow in getting started. Quality of offerings was not the best. Six loads of steers sold fairly well. The hest price paid was. $5.25. while many sales were below this figure. The top for femalo butcher stock was $4.90. Cows were a slow sale. The best prices paid for cows was $4.50. Bulls Gold steady, while veal calves were strong. Cattle. Cattle There was just a fair run of cattle from the country today, but in addition to about 600 slop-fed cows from dairy stables the supply of market stuff was liberal and nearly a3 large as on Monday last week. Good fat grades were reported selling about steady at the start, but under Increased and much larger subsequent arrivals than figured on values turned easier and the average of sales was a dime lower. Bulls Increased receipts and prices 1015c lower. Demand fair. Calves Market quiet and pric about steady at last week's prices. Anaconda rose rapidly 4, International Pump preferred gained 1 and Amalgamated Copper, Brooklyn Transit Loomctive and Ontario & Western gained large fractions. The upward movement was arrested for awhile by a sudden drop in St. Paul from 170 to lGS3,. The fact that the stcek weakened on only a fewtransactions disconcerted the bulls, and there was considerable realizing of profits. Subsequently the advance was resumed, but the market soon became "spotty" with the metal stocks conspicuously strong. Among the important gains were Lackawana 5A.
