ORANGES CHEAP AND FINE QUALITY TENNESSEE STRAW BERRIES ARE NOW HERE.

Mediterranean Sweets and St. Michaels are about all the varieties of oranges now in the local markets and they are bringing low prices, but are of excellent quality. There are a few California navals on the local market but the season for navals Is now nearly over and in two weeks time it will be hard to obtain any. Fine Tennessee strawberries are now on the market, selling at the remarkably low price of 10 cents per quart. There has been a drop in the price of berries in the past day of 2V4 cents. Frogs In this vicinity are quite plentiful at the present time and numerous hunting parties from this city go out every day. HOG MARKET STRONGER TO FIVE CENTS HIGHER ON ACTIVE TRADING.

Publishers' Press Indianapolis, May 10. Receipts, 4,500 hogs, 1,100 cattle and 250 sheep, against 5,604 hogs ,985 cattle and 16 sheep one week ago, and 4,768 hogs, 1.072 cattle and 49 sheep one year ago. The hog market closed strong to 5c higher. Receipts were only fair, but trading was active. All buyers were in the pens, and it yas estimat ed that the packers took nearly onehalf the receipts. The general market averaged 5c higher. Sales ranged from $6.40 to $6.53. with the bulk selling at $6.436.50. Cattle Prices Unchanged. The cattle market closed with prices practically unchanged. Receipts were small. The demand was equal to the supply, and a iclearance was mada early. Good butcher cows and heifers were a good sale early in the market. Strong For Sheep and Lambs. The sheep and lambs department showed strength. Prices were strong to a shade higher. Receipts were bet ter than at any time this week, and trading was active. Cattle. CATTLE PRICES STEADY ON GOOD DEMAND HOGS STEADY DESPITE LARGER RECEIPTS.

Publishers Press Cincinnati, May 10. Receipts Cattle. 645; hogs, 37SS; sheep, 65. Cattle With the demand generally good there was a continuation of yesterday's active movement in the cattle market today. The receipts were fairly liberal for Thursday, a good proportion of handy fat light steers and heifers, which have not been so plentiful recently were included in the arrivals, and these met with the usual active competition. Sales ranged from $4.655.12i4, the latter for strictly prime quality. Prices were steady in the main and offerings of all grades of beef cattle sold principally on yesterday's prevailing basis. Bulls Market steady, with light receipts and fair demand. Calves Market steady at yesterday's early prices under lessened and just fair receipts. Hogs Although the run of hogs today was again a quite liberal one, particularly for Thursday, values maintained a steady tone and the market opened with offerings of all grades selling promptly at a good average of yesterday's ruling prices. Will Wrigh had the misfortune to mash one of his fingers and tearing the nail off. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Personette called on Will Clark, Jr., Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Boroughs and daughter, Ester, were the guests of Ed Scater Sunday. A baby daughter arrived at the home of Cal Davis and wife last week. READING BONDS IRREGULAR. Publishers' Presii New York, May 10. The opening movement of prices in the stock market was irre- "ar. Nearly all of the prominent speculative leaders were lower. Otherwise the changes were small and transactions were on a moderate scale. Trading was quiet and irregular during the first hour. The general market following the movements in Reading and Smelting, which were Quite feverish. After registering declines of 1 to 1, they rallied to fractionally over yesterday's closing, and again became weak. Other stocks traversed a much narrower ranse, with the majority quoted below last night. Market Woke Up. The local traction stocks were strong on good traffic reports, and Northwestern Pacific railroads made wide advances. Prices elsewhere advanced in sympathy, and the market was awakened with animation. Prices yielded again before noon. Bonds were irregular. Began to Buy Stock3. When Great Northern preferred began to be absorbed in blocks of a thousand shares and upward, which eventually carried it up to 7M to 303 room operators began to buy stocks, and the other transcontinental stocks all rose. An active demand for New York Central had afurther strengthening effect on the market. Profit-taking began when the upward rush showed signs of exhaustion and the market became quiet and yielding.
