The local markets are now practically out of maple syrup as the seaison has been brought to a close within the last few days by the approach of the warm weather. The trees are budding rapidly and in many of the camps In this country the buckets have been gathered and stored for the summer. The season in this part of the country has not been the best on record, owing to the unfavorable weather for gathering the water. For n few days the run was rapid and the makers wore unable to gather all of the sap but most of the time the trees were frozen and no sap could be obtained. Another unfortunate condition accompanying this season's run was rapid and the makers were unable to gather all of the sap but most of the time the trees were frozen and no sap could be obtained. Another unfortunate condition accompanying this season's run was that when the sap was running at its best the rain was falling and the mixture of rain and sugar water made the syrup dark colored. While this does not effect the quality of the syrup the appearance of the syrup Is not up to the usual standard.

f Publishers' Presj Cincinnati, O,. April 10. Receipts: Cattle, 1,746; hogs, 2.881; sheep, 42. Cattle There was an easy tone to the cattle market today in general, especially for butcher stuff. The demand was of little consequence and confined principally to the better qualities. Prices as a rule were about the same as yesterday in most cases, and, although the receipts were light, the offerings including upward of 500 stale cattle carried over from yesterday, were far in excess of the wants of the few buyers in attendance, and a good share of the offerings were again left over. Good stockers and feeders, carrying good weight .steady and and scarce and fair and common light stockers are not kanted and next to unsalable; milch cows steady to strong; heavy steers $5 3.25, fair to good $4.25 4. 85. oxen $2.504.50, butchers, extra $5 5.23, fancy $5.25, good to choice $4.25 4.90, common to fair $3.254.15, heifers, extra $4.404,65, good to choice $3.85 4.35, common to fair $1.75 2.75, cows, extra $4.10 4.25, good to choice $3.254, common to fair $t.253.13, canners $1.252.50 stockers and feeders $2.50 4.65, fat dairy cows $2.504, xtra $4.10 4.15, fancy $4.25. Calves With shippers again in the field, a stronger and upward tendency prevailed, the fair and better grades sold strong to 25c higher, but the common and poor kinds remained a drag and unchanged. Common and large $2.50 6, fair to good light $3.50 6.25, extra $6.50. Hogs Due to a relatively light run the trade in the hog market today developed" further strength, and opened with packing and butcher grades selling about a nickel higher than yesterday, but the demand was only moderate, and the finish indicated an easy trend, despite the light supply. Light shipping hogs and pigs were quiet and unchanged Good to choice packers $6.52V&6.55, mixed and packers $6.43 G.50, common to choice heavy fat sows, $5 6, few extra . .6.106.15, stags $4 4.75, light shippers $5.90 6.30, pigs $55.85.
