"Pan Handle Jack" to Become Most Famous Dog of the Universe. THE ITINERARY PLANNED. IP ALL GOES WELL THE CANINE WILL START ON HI8 LONG JOURNEY SOMETIME EARLY IN MAY. "Pan Handle Jack" the tramp dog whose collar bears his name and which also gives his "residence" as Rich mond, Ind., all because of the fact that local railroad men have made Jack their protege, will probably become the most conspicuous dog in the universe within another fortnight. As has been stated previously In the Palladium Pan Handle Jack is one of those mysterious canines that has a hankering for railroad trains and Is continually touring. Every express messenger on the Pennsylvania sys tem west of Pittsburg knows Jack and the dog is as welcome as the "flowers In May" whenever he gets a notion to travel with a certain messenger. From the Pacific coast to Chicago and back again Pan Handle Jack has Journeyed, several times and during the past ten days he has been in every I Indiana city that sports the Pennsylvania railroad. Plan Itinerary. Some of the Richmond trainmen have conceived .the notion of giving 'Jack the greatest trip ever taken or ; attempted by any dog without a "chapleron." A tour of the world Is being mapped out for the canine and though Jack does not know what is doing he probably will find himself on the briny deep before the middle of May comes. i , The plan as now outlined Is to start 'Jack from Richmond early in May. He will ride to Chicago In an express car and In addition to the tag giving .his name and place of abode, there I will be a small leather case attached to his collar in which- will be placed a letter written on parchment. This epistle will give the history of Jack and also will outline his "around-the-world" Itinerary. From Chicago to San Francisco Jack Is to Journey over the Santa Fe in the care of an express messenger. At San Francisco Jack will be placed aboard one of the Pacific Mail Bteamera bound for the orient To The Orient. and Calcutta will be taken and Jack will soon find himself in the metropo lis of India. Across India to Bombay by rail will be the next step and there the tramp dog will be placed aboard a steamer that will carry him through the Red Sea and by way of the Suez canal to Port Said. From this port Pan Handle Jack will take a voyage on the Mediterranean to Naples and then Austria, Germany and France will be visited by rail. The plan is to have Jack placed aboard a steamer at Bordeaux, France and then proceed to En gland sailing from Liverpool to New York. The work of arranging the itinerary will be taken up by some of the Pan Handle officials who are desirous of .seeing whether or not the trip can be successfully made by the dog. Letters will be sent in advance to transporta tion companies asking their co-operation in the experiment and if Jack manages to keep his health It is expected that the tour of the earthly sphere can be accomplished in between four or five months. Because of the fact that Jack will not be attempting any record breaking traveling stunts, he naturally will not be placed aboard the fastest liners in every Instance and It is expected that he will be sent out of his, way many times while touring the continent on railroad trains in order that foreign railroad men may take a squint at this strange canine from the land of the free. Jack will not be penned up in a box at any stage of his Journey. FREAK ENGINE REMOVED. Pan Handle Will Try Out New Locomotive Between Columbus and Logansport Grasshopper Valve. The freak engine, No. 302, that has been hauling trains No. 21 and 16 betwen Indianapolis and Columbus each day lias been taken off this division and will be given a try out on the Logansport Division, between Columbus and Logansport, or between Bradford Junction and Chicago. This engine made some remarkable runs on the road through this city and won for itself the name of "grashopper valve" engine. On one occasion, the great machine pulled eleven cars up the hill out of Cambridge City, west, from a dead stop. Usually there is a switch engine that assists all trains that stop at Cambridge City, but on this occasion the switch engine w.as ordered away from the rear of the train, v and "the "grasshopper valve" started the heavy cars with ease.

Theatre Next Monday Night. AT THE THEATERS The Guy Stock Company in Dr. Jekji and Mr. Hyde, delighted a big audi ence at the Gennett last night. The company is filling its promises fully and big business is certain during the remainder of the engagement. Matinees daily. It s no small undertaking to create a pretty picture from a bundle of rags, but that is just what the Three Hillyers do this week at the New Phillips. Rags are brought on to the stage and dumped out of a basket and from this miscellaneous collection are picked the necessary parts to compose a scene that soon makes its appearance before the eyes of the surprisd spectators, standing out in bold relief upon a background of cloth, in a gigantic frame. Three such pictures ar presented. Great Interest has been aroused by the work of the Bel gian goats under the direction of Prof. Dunbar. They are as good, if not better, than any like feature ever seen here with a circus. In addl-tion to these strong features there arenovelty comedy instinentalists, illustrated songs, a comedy sketch and motion pictures. splitting adventures. These are set in a handsome framework and adorn ed with a large chorus, and a ballet, whom Redfern and Worth, the noted Parisian modistes have made to look like Queens of Society. "Buster Brown" will be presented at the Gennett Theatre on next Monday night direct from its successful run of one hundred nights at the Majestic Theatre, New York City, and two hundred performances in Chicago and it is sure to be a most welcome attraction in this city.
