The "County of Allen," which for a score of years has not been represented on the Republican state ticket, but which has been much sought after because of its great influence at the head of the roll-call, will this time present the name- of Owen H. Heaton for Judge of the supreme court for the Fourth judicial district. Judge Heaton's candidacy has attracted widespread attention because of his eminent qualiScctions for tho high office to which ha aspires and from the fact that he is credited with breaking down tlio fortiflcatiens which

JUDGE OWEN N. HEATON. the Democracy of the entire state considered impregnable in Allen county for half a century. To him more than to anyone else is given the credit for taking this last garden spot from the Democratic party. His twb races 'for judge of the superior court there have stamped him as one of the strongest and most effective campaigners in Indiana. In 1898 he was drafted to fill the place on the tichet. Although hopelessly beaten in advance, he went into the flght earnestly and succeeded in making his opponent run nearly 2,000 behind his ticket. Again in .1902 he was nominated, although he was not a candidate. The county was normally Democratic by 2,500 majority, but Judge Heaton was elected by a majority of over 300. Hi3 victory enabled the Republicans to break down tho political animosities of two generations, paving the way for four others on the Republican ticket to win. His record on the bench has given him a stronger hold than ever on his district. A tireless worker, fair-minded, and endowed with wide experience in the. practice of his profession, and a profound student of it as well, success has been natural in the discharge of his duties.
