quarters and some of the waiters remain here for years at a time, if they happen to get on the inside track with the head waiter that pompous individual who does the seating and has the power of "throwing in the way" a good thing. Dining Room Divided. A hotel dining room is divided, some of the tables being turned over to regular boarders, others to residents of the city who happen to be eating a meal or two at the hotel, and still others for the transient guests. These are the ones that leave a quarter by the plate and in return, they get the best of attention. A strange face, the face of a well known and former "customer" looks the best to the "wait" and he is attentive and obsequious during the entire meal. Fn.ni uoiip to coffee, he gets the best there is in the kitchen and finally, when his patron arises, he "jest lingers" and usually pockets the coin. "Some of those neople who travel for their health "tip," but it is .usually the traveling man that drops us the money," said the waiter. "They get their money's worth, too, because they know how 'to do it." "Do women have the tipping habit?" was asked "Well, suh, the ladies have plenty of smiles and lots of thanks, but we don't count much mi them for shoes for the baby. They are awful nice about it, but money talks, and we can't hear the ladies very far."

BEN GREET WILL PUT ON TWO SHAKESPEAREAN PLAYS AT THE GENNETT SATURDAY.
Adelaide Thurston Will be at the Gennett Thursday in "Triumph of Betty" Manager Murray Announces A Bill for His House Which is Varied and Made up of High Class Performers.
Critics say that, the exquisite and magnificent color effects as shown in Ben Greet's Sheakespearlan performances have-never been surpassed on the stage. Mr. Green says the reason for this is not that his costumes are any more elaborate or costly than
cle of friends and acquaintances in a foreign country where words and" actions that are perfectly legitimate and right are looked upon with censure and suspicion simply because they are out of the ordinary beaten coure, where as a matter of fact Betty is more intelligent, better educated and more truly a lady than her judges.- How she by sheer force of a wholesome personality and down right honesty of purpose triumphs over her enemies and traducers and brings happiness to all those who have loved and trusted her is told in an exceedingly interesting and at the same time humorous manner. Those who have seen Miss Thurston's excellent work in past seasons in such plays as "The Little Minister" will enjoy her in "The Triumph of Betty" next Monday night at the Gennett Theatre. CREW IS COMPOSED OF FIFTEEN SKILLED MEN AND IT ALWAYS HAS THE RIGHT OF ,WAY OVER COMPANY'S TRACKS.
On the best of railroad systems, accidents are recognized as unavoidable and after doing everything to guard against them, a wreck train and crew
is provided to make the effect of the "smash-up" the smallest possible. On the Pennsylvania Lines, the wrecking department is so finely organized that in case of a bad accident, one, two, three or four complete wreck trains, with crews, can be called to the spot and be on their way in less than half an hour after the report is made. This necessitates quick work, and like tho firemen, the men in the wreck crew must bo ready at a moment's notice. On a siding by the shops, is the wreck train, and nearly every hour in the day, an engine stands In readiness for a quick run. The train is made tip of three cars, one known as the derrick car, another as the tool car and the third is an old passenger coach occupied by the men on the trips to and from the scene of the wreck and in it they keep their overcoats and lunch baskets. The derrick car Is a flat car with a powerful dorrick, capable of lifting many tons. The tool car contains yards' of heavy rope and axes, sledges and pulieys (Continued from Page 5.)
