to stand by your JHS FEEDING SONG BIRDS The Correspondent of Palladium it I ', i i ! : : 1 . . i , ' Give Some Timely Suggestions. Editor , Palladium -Your ! ,M If ' ; "if correspondent .',4,Bird Lover, '!rwho,, makes, a plea for, the birds in .your paper of March J.4th, has given a key note for practical bird protection .but , let me suggest that there is a better way of feeding birds., than by r throwing crumbs ; and . scraps on the , snow, Foqd, thrown on ,the, snow S9qn sinks and -disappears, jJEven, when there is a crust onfye snow heffood. is fro-j zen, immediately and is,, but, , an , icy repast ra hungry bird. A: much more, hospitable ,way is tq, place a brojud board on, the snow, or, in a path where the birds ,will , be, likely , to , see it, -and, scatter. the. food on the board. A, ishallow box is: better yet, and prevents the food being scattered and wasted, t Many persons tie pieces of beef or suet in the forks of the limbs of trees for the birds. These should be placed so that the bird can sit on a limb while helping himself to a meal, and it -is- very entertaining to watch a robin or jay picking his breakfast of meat or suet'.' . i.-. . r :. - r TT , "TT PURE MAPLE SUP.
