' Because of the f aet that the Rev. G. H. Hill presiding elder of the Richmond district will retire at the close of the present conference year, considerable speculation is being in dulged in as to his probable succes sor.' It is asserted that there is reason to believe that the Rev. Madison E. Swadener, pastor of the First Methodist church will be named to succeed Dr. Hill and should this transpire a new pastor will.be chosen at the coming conference to fill the pulpit at First church. Dr. Hill some time ago made it known that he, would retire and congregations all over the district will sincerely regret to lose him. He has been an untir ing and faithful worker and his administration of the affairs has bees of the best. . Richmond and Wayne County fiof ura canspiauously in tha Riebmond district work of the Norsk Indiana Ifethodist Conference, and reports that will be made to the presiding elder for the fiscal year will show a generally prosperous condition. ' The North Indiana conference comprises the. north-east quarter of the state including all the territory north of the old natir-al road and lying east of the Michigan road. The conference was organised Oct. 16, 1844, in the city of Ft. Wayne, by Bishop Waugh. There are 293 ministeps. Tbere are, six presiding elder districts, as follows: Ft. Wayne distsiat, Rev. Cyrus U.
