BUTTER IS FAB FROM PLENTI FUL bi sionxxoirD At TUB PEESEirr Tna. Altaongh the Winter IIu Been Open There Haa Not Bean Good Supply of Cattle Feed. Quality of Butter is Good. The Scarcity Will Likely Boost the Price. Farmers Complain of Milk Shortage. Butter on the local markets at the present time is far from being plentiful. A matter of comment, 'however, is that , the parties -who have made a practice of flooding the local markets with adulterated butter for the past two years have left the field, scared out, no doubt by the action of the state pure food commission. It might be supposed that owing to the open weather that has prevailed during the winter that there would have been plenty of good' feed for the cows and consequently nn abundance of butter, but such is not the case. :' ' The butter that is now on the market is unusually good but the scarcity that prevail bids fair to boost the price at least one or two cents within a few days time. The farmers complain that they are not securing any great amount of milk. COUNTRY PRODUCE. (Paid by the Bee Hive Grocery.) Butter. 1 Creamery, . .23c to 27c Country, 15c to 20c Eggs. CHICAGO MARKETS

There Was a Stronger Tone in Wheat Market, Canted by Higher Cables And Basilar Cilpnemte Oeed Demand For Corn. - V Chicago, March 12. The wheat market opened firm here because of higher cables and world's shipments, which were below the amount for the corresponding time one year ago. A small advance was registered early in the session, but this was soon wiped out by a decline caused by selling by commision houses with . Northwestern connections. Prices, howev er, rallied again in a short time. May opened 14c higher, declined to 7714 77c and advanced to 77c. The market grew very strong in the latter part of the day on heavy buying by commission-houses. The high point for May was 78c. The close was strong, with May up 1 iy8c at 78iA7834c. Corn Was Finn. The corn market was easier at the opening. There was an excellent demand by commission houses, and ca bles were reported higher. May open ed Vs1 higher, declined , to 43c, and sold up to 43144314c Corn eased off in sympathy with a sharp break in the price of oats and declined to 4234c. A rally occurred later, and the close was firm, with May1 (gc higher at 43V&e. The market in oats vas not so firm as for other grain. Provision market was easier. Chicago Grain and Provisions. Hog Receipts Small, but Prices Five Ceats Lower; Receipts Lfekts for Bsk lloths-Ooed Steer Were flearee. Indianapolis, March 12. Receipts, 1,000 hogs, and 400 cattle,' against 1.703 hogs, 317 cattle and 63 sheep last week and 1,645 hogs, 477 "cattle and 11 sheep a year ago. The hog maket elosed with prices 5c lower than at the close Saturday. Trading was not spirited, owing to the ligh run of stock. Receipts were lightest since July, 1904. The inclement weather is blmed for the poor run of stock. Shipper were not prominent in the trading. One order was filled for fancy lightweight hogs at prices 5c lower than the quotations for the same kind at the close of last week. Local packers took the bulk of the offerings. Traders continue to discriminate in th buying of the light hogs, owing to the big run of lights that have no weight and fat. . , Steady for Cattle. Trading in th cattle alleys was not active. Receipts were only fair for the first day of the week. Prices ruled steady on all grades. There were no fancy. cattle on., sale, receipts consisting mainly of the butcher grades of cows and heifers and No. 2 steers. Local hutches were promi nent in the buying of these grades at unchanged prices. There was some inquiry for steers of quality, but the trade had nothing to offer in this line. Sellers could easily have ob tained stronger pries on this grade. Bulls were steady and calves found a ready sale at stronger prices. Few Sheep and Lambs. Receipts of sheep and lambs were light. Trading was confined to local butchers and packers. There was hardly enough stock on hand to make a complete market. Cattle. . Wheat opened stronger impelled by higher cables, a cold wave in the west, covering by shorts, and lighter world's shipments. The market reacted later under bear pressure, but was strengthened later by outside buying. Corn showed early strength which was attributed to favorable cables, light world's shipments, short covering, and the better market for wheat.
