The country club house, and the barns and home of Mrs. Mary Sutton, just west of the Country Club, had a narrow escape from being burne,d to ,the ground yesterday morn ing, by the bur" ing of grass on the strip of land ly.'ng between the Sutton farm and the Country Club. The fire was finally extinguished by Frank Braffet and Wilbur Hibberd,; who fought the blaze with brooms. They had had gone to the club to inspect the new arrangement of the golf course, and while walking over the strip of land, which was added to the course last year and which will be used as a part of . the golf links this season, they set fire 'to the grass which was as dry a tinder. -In. five minute' time the fire was almost beyound control. Before the two and hedge and fence, between the golf course and the . Sutton farm, had been badly burned. MAYORS WANT IT STOPPED. Wyatt 's home is in Chester and he has been rational a greater part of the time of. his confinement in the county building. - The crowded condition of the jail made it uncomfortable for both Wyatt and the other, prisoners during, bis mental outbreaks.
