One of the greatest American millionaire" once said to his physician, "A million dollars, Doctor, for a new stomach," and then the sick man groaned and turned away. One of a man's greatest pleasures is that born of a keen appetite, vigorous digestion and a good dinner, and this belongs to , many a good fellow who is living on small wages, but the rich man without a stomach has to forego the good things of the table because his 6tomach- rebels. Without a healthy rtomach and a good digestion, our blood is tli "in, watery and poor, our heart action is weal:, our liver doeS not do its doty, and man is miserable and unhappy. In this condition man is prey to the germs - of influenza, consumption, malaria and all the ills that he is heir to. Consumption can be treated by natural methods which are as close to nature as possible. Dr. R. V. Pierce, chief consulting physician of the Invalids Hotel and Surgical Institute, at Buffalo, N. Y., years ago understood this disease, and after a long period of experiment discovered certain roots and herbs which were nature's remedies, and succeeded in putting them up in a form that would be easily procured and ready to use. This he called Dr. Pierce's Golden Medical Discovery. It gives no false stimulation because it contains no alcohol and no narcotic. It helps diges.tionand the assimilation of such elements In the food as are required for the blood. Instead of a cod liver oil, against which the already sensitive stomach will declare open rebellion, this tonic has a pacifying

me sensitive biuuiatu h.uu

The independents, who for convenience may be called the marauders Lawson, Gales, Keene, etc. o attempt is made here to more than broadly indicate the cleavage lines by which the financial world is separated. No attempted analysis of these groups has been put in print, except in a fragmentary way. It should, therefore be found interesting to the general public to keep these divisions in mind if they are to understand the various operations which are reported in the press from day to day. Twentieth Century.

The power that gives you life and motion is the nerve force, or nerve flaiJ, located in the nerve cells of the brain, and sent oi:t through the nerves to the various orjans. If you are tired, nervous, irritctlc, cnr.r.ot sleep ; have headache, 'feci slufTy, dull and melancholy, or have neur::Iia, rheumatism, backache, periodical pains, indigestion, dyspepsia, stomach trouble, or the kidneys and liver arc inactive, your life-current is weak. Power-producing fuel is needed; something to increase nerve energy strengthen the nerves. Dr. Miles' Restorative Nervine is the fuel you need. It feeds the nerves, produces nerve force, and restores vitality. "When I begun taking1 Dr. Miles Restorative Nervine and Anti-Pain Pills I was confined to my bed. I had severe nervous spells, the result of two years illness with malaria. I gradually grow so weak tha. I was unable to sit up. The spalls would commence with cold chills. ar.i I would become weak and almost helpless. My circulation was poor. I had doctored right along but grew weaker and weaker. The Nervina seemed to strengthen me right away and my circulation was better. I hava taken in all seven bottles of the Nervine, p.rd I e-n entirely well." ROSA E. WEAVER. Stuarts. Ia. Despite the fact that vaudeville has been running at the New Phillips for many weeks there seems to be no diminution of the interest in this popular form of amusement; -a form that has swept over the entire country and which has also taken a strong hold on foreign lands. From week to week the people flock to the New Phillips because they know that a new bill will be provided and will be in many respects different from the preceding bills. A vaudeville manager is not always able to give his patrons just exactly what he would like to give them, but when he is a member of such an association as the Central Vaudeville Association, as is Manager Murray, he can come very close to providing a first rate bill every week. The program that is being put on at the' . New Phillips this week is no exception to this rule and all those who 'have seen it, have been well pleased. Of course it is possible, to pick flaws in any bill, but taken as a whole there is no one in Richmond who would regret the expenditure of ten cents to see the eight numbers that are provided, a

little more than one cent per' number. Clean and refined entertainment cannot be bought as cheap in any other form as in the vaudeville houses and a man can take his entire family to witness it for the same or less outlay than it would cost for him to see one ordinary show at the customary price of fifty cents or more. At the Gennett.

Vaudeville will be resumed at the

uennett tins aiternoon with a women's and children's bargain matinee. Owing to the fact that the Uncle Tom's Cabin company held the

boards yesterday afternoon and

evening, there was no vaudeville.

Tomorrow night will witness the end of the excellent bill that Manager

Swisher arranged for this week and all who fail to take advantage of the remaining opportunities will miss a

great treat. Each act is equal to the ordinary head line feature and every

performer is a bright star. All phas

es of vaudeville are presented by the most competent performers. The

Siouse has had phenomenal crowds this week and there is no doubt but that the last performances will be

given before packed houses.

Michigan Man, After Being Refused

by Young Women, Centers Affections on Toy. Kalamazoo, Mich., Jan. 18. After having been respectfully declined by six pretty young women within the space of two hours at an informal party, Frank Reed, aged 50, living near Mendon, advertised for a wife in the local papers. He put the age limit at from 18 to 30 years and restricted the eligibles to church members. .Reed, who has property, declinied to marry, and his brother Calvin in

vited him . to come to Kalamazoo and try to secure a wife. He introduced him at a pai'ty, and his offers of marriage followed., The young women, who are employed as stenographers, tell the story, but decline to allow their names to be used. Calvin Reed is a queer character and lives alone. Since being refused by the young women, he has furnished rooms with dolls, mirrors, and pictures. - He has a life sized doll and on the hand of one has placed a gold wedding ring. Calvin is di

vorced.
