ROSELLE KNOTT

COMES NEXT WEEK IMPERSONATING MARY TUDOR I IN "WHEN KNIGHTHOOD WAS IN FLOWER." FAVORABLY KNOWN HERE Trained Pig at the New Phillips is Proving a Great Fun Maker For Patrons. Kosclle Knott, .playing Mary Tudor in "When Knighthood was in Flower'' will appear at the Gennett next week. There is every reason to believe that Miss Knott's appearance at the Gennett will be one of the treats of the season. Mi.-;s Knott is known to Richmond theatre goers from her former visit J to this city in "A Modern Magda- ! li.'ii." Her work in that play was one ! nf i 1 to best tilings ever seen in Hicli- ; niond. Miss Knott ho.s a tine stage 'presence and is beautiful woman. ! ''When Knighthood was in Flow- ' is well known to Richmond thearopi'S. It hns been here twice, both : re times in good bunds. The play is 1'ioni the pen of Charles .M.-ijor. a Jloi.sier writer. Vaudeville at the New Phillips. "Turn around three times," -said Mr. Fnnta to the tiny pig at the New Phillips last night, and instantly the pig obeyed. "Turn around once," be then said, and as quickly the order was obeyed. "Show how the baby does when it wants its dinner," and again the pig obeyed by lustily squealing. His "Pigship" is only a little fellow but he seems to have more intelligence than is usually accredited to members of his particular family. Induced by a bottle of milk, from which he was occasionally allowed to nurse, lie jumped over a miniature fence and did other tricks. Jt is considered rather out of the ordinary to teach pigs to perform and it is for this reason that "Mike" is no attractive feature of the New Phillips bill this week. When the Two Fantas put on their boxing act, Mrs. Fanta shows her husban'd in the ' most approved fiwhion how to han dle the gloves and be gets much the worst of the encounter. The act of the Alpine Sisters, shadowgraphers, continues to grow in popularity. CASTOR I A Fo T.J-ts and Children. The Kind You Have Always Bought Bears the Signature of MEN IN CHURCH WHISTLE. Pastor Leads Male Parishioners in Rendering "America" with Pnckered Lip Music. Anderson, Ind., Feb. 14. Whistling from the pulpit and also in the eongregation was the unusual feature of the services in the Noble Street Methodist Episcopal church last evening, when the exercises included the observance of Lincoln's birthday. The Rev. W. W. Kent, the pastor, desired that all men in the congregation should join in the music, and suggested that they should whistle if they could not sing. So, after one verse of "America" had been sung by the congregation, Pastor Kent asked all the men to join in whistling the chorus of the song. The minis ter puckered his lips and started with the other men, and all whistled. Then the women joined in the next verse. It is not known whether any women whistled, but the men kept at it. TRY IT ONCE. It's easy to win the Palladium prize for " tipping" off a piece of news. Nearly every one knows something that the general public is not aware of. It is hard for the reporters to hear everything that is going on. After getting a "tip" it is no trouble for them to hunt it up. All they want is a "tip." To win the dollar prize it is not necessary that the "tip" be a tremendous piece of news. A little item may win the prize. Try it once and see if you can't win.

Dr. Miles' Restorative Nervine has been so successful in curing these brain-wrecking diseases that there is every reason to believe that even the most hopeless cases can be benefited, if not fully restored. We vill be pleased to refer any one thus afflicted to many who now enjoy the blessing of health, after years of hopeless suffering. "I have a son that had hrnln favr when two years old. foik.vved by fits of the worst type, ar.d l.t vas pronounced Incurable. I ypor.t h''ilrt-2a of dollars for him. without rcIUf. After about fifteen years he became fo b".d that we sent him to Lonsrclifi" hospital for the insane, at Lognsport. Ind. He was there nearly three years, but he continued to grow worse, so we brought him home July 20, 1902, In p.n awful - condition. He had lost his mfnd almost entirely. He hardly knew one of the family; could not even find his bed; was a total wreck. He had from o to 10 fits a day. "We were u-j?ed to try Dr. Miles' Nervine, and before the first bottle was used, we could see a change for the better. We have given it to him ever since, and he has had but two very light spells since last August. 1303, and then he was not well c ther ways. We p-onounce him cuTfd. e-s he can work and go anywhere. If any ore wishes to ask ar.y questions con?erning this, thy ar f t lil crty to do so." E. H. BUNNELL, Lincoln, Ind. Miles Medical Co., Elkhart, Ind CLAIMS TO CURE CANCER. Drs. Beard and Mackenzie cf England cite Experiments as Proof of Their Power. Loudon, Feb. 1. Dr. Beard of Ediuburg asd Dr. Shaw MacKenzie of Loudon, working in collaboration, claim to "have discovered an absolute cure for cancer and diabetes in all stages of both diseases. Its efficacy, it is alleged, has been proved by numerous experiments upon patients who are today perfectly recovered. The new treatment consists of subcutaneous injections of ehioterebenthine and extract of beef, and finally injections of trysine, with or without extract of beef, as the case requires. The physicians say they have discovered that cancer is caused directly by lesion of the pancreas or sweetbread. Cancer and diabetes, it is declared, are- closely allied, and both my be caused by organic trouble in he pancreas. Women as Well as Ben fire Hade Miserable by Kidney and Bladder Trouble. Kidney trouble preys upon the mind, discourages and lessen s ambition ; beauty, vigor and cheerfulness soon disappear when the kidneys are out of order" or diseased. Ividney trouble has become so prevalent that it is not uncommon for a child to be born afflicted with weak kidneys. If the child urinates too often, if the urine scalds the flesh, or if, when the child reaches an age when it should be able to control the passage, it is yet amtctea wiiu Dea-wet-ting, depend upon it, the cause of the difficulty is kidney trouble, and the first step' should be towards the treatment of these important organs. This unpleasant trouble is due to a diseased condition oi the kidneys and bladder and not to a habit as most people suppose. W omen as well as men are made miserable with kidney and bladder trouble, and both need the same great remedy. The mild and the immediate effect of .Swam D-Root is soon realized. It is sold by druggists, in fiftycent and one-dollar size bottles. You may have a sample .bottle by mail free, also a noma of Swamp-Root, pamphlet tuning all about Swamp-Root. including many or me uiousanas oi testimonial letters received from sufferers cured. Y., on ever? bottle. GIRLS WAGE WAR WITH PINS. Garment Workers on Strike Attack Nonunion Substitutes and Battle Results. What Cheer, la., Feb. 14. Sixteen grirls employed by the American Garment company here formed a- union and struck for shorter hours and more pay. The company immediately secured a crowd of sixteen new girls and started them to the factory. The strikers had pickets out and gave battle to the nonunion substitutes. Hatpins were the principal weapon of warfare, although many had their faces badly scratched and hair pulled before the police were able to quell the riot. The union was overwhelmed and forced to retire.
