CITY WITHOUT STORAGE EGGS
WARM WINTER CAUSE FOR A GOOD SUPPLY OF COUNTRY EGGS.
PRICE CONSIDERED CHEAP
Now Selling at Twenty Five Cents a Dozen Generally Forty Cents In the Winter.
One advantage which the people of Richmond derive from the except ionally warm weather which has characterized the winter is that of having always eggs fresh from the farms instead of those which were packed months ago in the cold storage houses. The hens' lay steadily until there comes a week or more of cold weather, and as there has been but a few days of this and the temperature rising at the present time, it seems that I lie market will ho well supplied for some weeks 1 to come, unless the weather should change. A prominent grocer said yesterday that there was not a cold storage egg in the city at the present time. The reason is that fresh ones can be bought for the same amount as the packed product, and as plenty of the fresh eggs are offered each day, the price is kept down to 25 cents per dozen, when usually at this time in the year nre retailing for from thirty to forty cents.
BOND ISSUE IS VALID
Ex-Judge Dillon Gives Strong Opinion in Pere Maranette-C. C. & L. Case. Cincinnati, January 11. Ex-Judge John V. Dillon, the eminent Eastern . counsel and senior member of the uNoapf Dillon & Hubbard, has given a strong Opinion on the validity of the Pere-Marquette $3,500,000 issuance of bonds to pay for the C, C. & L. Judge Dillon says, for his firm. "It is our opinion that the Pere Marquette has the lawful right, power and authority to purchase all the shares of the capital stock of the Chicago, Cincinnati & Louisville Railway Company, to-wit: $4,200,000 par value and that the Tore Marquette also had the lawful power to execute the bonds secured by said collateral trust indenture of July 1. 1004, in payment therefor, and that said bonds issued in payment constitute valid and legally binding obligations of the Pore Marquette Kailroad Company." Judge Dillon is considered one of the greatest authorities in the country on validity of bonds.

prices of a number of finished products and the announcement that the steel corporation will make exten-
fsive additions to plants. With the
exception of a slight weakness in bar iron and scrap, the market continues extremely strong. "The blast furnace production of the United States steel corporation for 1905, was approximately 10,175,500 tons of pig iron; the production of ingots was 11, 995,000. The best previous record was in 1902, when 7,975,500 tons of pig iron and 9,745,000 of ingots were produced. The
increase is more Hum L',uuu, uuu tons in both iron and ingots. j "The improvements .decided upon'
include extensive new construction and the remodeling of a number of plants. TM.; will increase the ..furnace capacity by 1,000,000 tons, the ingot capacity by 540.000 tons and the finished material capacity by 765,000 tons. The principal items of the improvements are the erection of two new blast furnaces at the Carrie plant and of ten fifty-ton openhearth furnaces at Homestead, Pa., where the structural mill will also be remodeled and its production largely increased. At Duquesne a bar' mill for rounds up to 6 inches will be erected. Isbella furnace No. 2, which has been idle since the formation of the corporation, will be placed in blast. "At South Chicago the corporation will erect a new 30-inch universal plate mill and a new light rail mill. Another blast furnace is to be added to the Joliet plant. At the Worcester plant of the American Steel and Wire company large additions are planned for the manufacture of insulated wire and cable. The Pennsylvania plant of the National tube works at McKeesport, Avill be remodeled, so as to increase the capacity greatly, ami large additions will be made at the Peneoyd plant, where the structural mill will be remodeled."
Taking Profits. New York, Jan. 11 Profit-taking was evident in some of the active securities, and quite a little Union Pacific was unloaded, despite the rumors of an early dividend declaration at the rate of 7 per cent per annum.
