A street "speedway" should be stopped at once as the speed limit was being exceeded, which is contrary to city ordinance. It has been the practice of. the various horsemen of the city to use this street as a course for sleigh races, in winter, and for a number of years this' has beeri allowed. Superintend ent Bailey' says that the practice is dangerous to pedestrians and others who use the street and "that any furIher attempt to convert it into a racecourse will be prohibited. tit v M"i. John Sullivan and Miss Maggie i Varley, two of Richmond 's best known ' people, were married yesterday morning at the 6 o'clock mass at St. Mary's Catholic church. After tU& church services an elegant wedding breakfast 'was' served at the home of the bride's sister, Mrs. Edward Goldrick, South Twelfth street, to the bridal party and immediate relatives. Mr. and Mrs.' Sullivan left at 9 o'clock for Dayton. After a short stay there they will visit Cincinnati and Louisville, returning home about Sunday. They will go to housekeeping in a handsomely furnished home on Lincoln street, West Richmond. Many handsome presents were received. The groom is a business man of prominence, and a son of the late well known Jeremiah Sullivan. Mrs. Sullivan, by her unswerving devotion to relatives and friends, and her useful life, has endeared herself to '-.osts of friends, whose best wishes ire extended for a happy married life. None of the local artists have availed themselves of the recent fall of snow to make any pictures with t ! e exception of Mr. (iirardin who lias made two sketches of views around his home east of the city. The grounds around Mr. Girardin's home are beautiful at this time of year ami he intends inviting the members of the sketch Club to his home some time in the near future for the purpose of making sketches and paintings Avhile the country is so picturesque. Mr. (iirardin has nearly recovered frfom his severe attack of sickness and is rapidly regaining his health. His sickness was caused by a nervous break down caused by overwork. BENEFIT DANCE GIVEN FOR FRANK FAMILY One Hundred and Fifty Dollars realized at the Affair Last Night. A benefit dance was given last night at the I. O. O. F. hall for the family of the late George Frank, who died last Sunday. The dance was giv en by friends and not only was th? evening an enjoyable one but about $150 was realized and this sum will be turned over to the family.
