THE MORNING PALLADIUM TUESDAY, JANUARY 9. 1906

Our sole knowledge of the peo

ple on other worlds and how far

the people there differ from our

Inhabitants, can only be guessed by

Comparison with animal nature on this mall sphere of ours. More important to us is a knowledge of ourselves. "Know Thyself" was an old Greek thought. How to take care of one's own body is not so simple as some think: the human mechanism is a wonderful thing and requires watching. One man who has done more to teach the American people how to care for th ir bodies than almost any other, is Dr. R. V. Pierce, of Buffalo, N. Y., the Author of the "Common Sense Medical Adviser." lie ays : It is not the quantity of the food eaten which produces strength and health (for some people can keep strong- on a very meagre diet), but it is how much food is mbsorbed and assimilated by tbe blood and carried to nourish every organ of the body. It Is, therefore, vitally necessary fcr the body that the stomach be in a healthy state. If disease of the stomach, or what is call d "stomach trouble," prevents proper nutrition then the heart, liver, lunjfs, and kidntys do not gst proper food they are ot fed on rich red blood, and in conse"tnce, begin to show sins of distress, iutwardly these signs may be pimples and eruptions on fckin, pale face, sleepless nights, tired, languid foclinps, or, by reason of the nerves not being fed on pure blood, they become starved, and we receive a warning in the pain we call neuralgia. Rheumatism, too, is a blord disease. After years of practice and study Dr. Pierce found that an Alterative Kxtract, which he aatntd "Dr. Pierce's Golden Medical Discovery," made from the extracts of several plajts, invariably produced a tonic effect Jipon the system. It helped the process of absorption of the healthy elements in the food and increased the red corpuscles ol the blood, as well as eliminated the poisons from the system. Business is business. No time for he;dches. Constipation causes them. Doclor Pierce's Pleasant Pellets cure them by cv iX the cause. Laxative and mild.

Burlesqus at New Phillies. "Ulark Crook, .Jr." company, tlu next entertainment to be given at tbe New Phillips Theatre Friday night,

January 12, is said to have a score of pretty .i'l. a dozen jolly comedians, lots of good sinking, two funny burlesques, 'well set in handsome scenery and brilliant electrical environment, with an olio the best of any company's on the road, two features of which have been imported from Europe especially for this show. One is Toledo & Price direct from the Orpheurn Theatre, London, England, in their great sensational contortion and acrobatic act. From all accounts, this is an amusement not to be missed. 4 Vaudeville at the Ne-w Phillips. Despite the winter weather and the

many counter attractions the pat-' ronage at the New I'hillips last night , for the vaudeville bill was' quite liberal. It may be said with all fair-.

ness in the beginning that the bill is one of the best in every way that has

been presented at this house. It is j

clean, entertaining and meritorious

throughout and deserves to be seen by big bouses all week. Even Manager Murray, who was expecting a good bill, was surprised to find that he bad secured acts that were really much better than he was counting on. Willis and I.arkin, eecentric comedians, singers rxr.il dancers, were es

pecially good and their work called j

forth, much applause. I heir dancing is a strong feature. Jerome Mora, tbe trickster, is oxceedinclv clever. His

slight of hand work is probably as J good as has ever been seen at the New. Phillips. Cal Lankert 's illustrated j songs, "In tie Village by the Sea," and "Hrioht Eves Cool live," were

very pleading. V. Daly Pmrgess, comedian, and his dog. Finnigan, are a distinct feature of the bill. Finnegan ?s host described as "cute" and his work pleased tbe audience immensely. Morgan and Crone, tally-ho duo, secured a strong recognition by their high grade singing. Another great feature is the work of the Aherns, hand and head equilibrists. Their work is extremely difficult and is best described as wonderful. The philoscope showing "The Miller's Daughter," has scarcely been ever more pleasing. All the numbers on the program were recalled.

Lou will be held, but on the evening ' tbe L'lth a bannuet will be served o the members, followed by 'iufor"?1 1orts. Among the prominent -speakers to address the meeting are "rof. O. F. Hunziher, of Purdue University, Dr. (J. V. Woollen, of Indianapolis, E. K. Slater, State dairy and food commissioner of Minnesota, and Dr. 15. Johnson of Moovesviile. II. Z. Commons and W. S. Commons will represent the Richmond Cream Company at the meeting, and (Joorge Drisehel will probably represent the Cambridge Cheese Company. The o flicers of the association are D. 1. Johnson, president; I. B. Calvin, Kewanna, vice president, and Samuel Schlosser, Plymouth, secretary-treasurer.

Beware cf . Ointments for Catarrh that Contain Mercury. as mercury will surely destroy the sense of smell and completely derange the whole system when entering it through the mucous surfaces. Such articles should never be used except on prescriptions from reputable physicians, as the damaee they will do is ten fold to the good you can possibly derive from them. Hall's Catarrh Cure, manufactured by F. J. Cheney & Co., Toledo, Ohio, contains no mercury, and is taken internally, acting directly upon the blood and mucous surfaces of tbe system. In buying Hall's Catarrh Cure, be sure you get the genuine. It is taken internally and made in Toledo, Ohio, by F. J. Cheney & Co. Testimonials free. Sold by druggists. Price, 75c per bottle. .Take Halyl's family pills for constipation.

Sicll Headache When your head aches, there is a storm in the nervous system, centering in the brain. This irritation produces pain in the head, and the turbulent nerve current sent to the stomach causes nausea, vomiting1. This is sick headache, and is dangerous, as frequent and prolonged attacks weaken the brain, resulting in loss of memory, inflammation, epilepsy, fits, dizziness, etc. Allay this stormy, irritated, aching condition by taking Dr. Miles' Anti-Pain Pills. They stop the pain by soothing, strengthening and relieving the tension upon the nerves not by paralyzing them, as do most headache remedies. Dr. Miles' Anti-Pain Puis do not contain opium, morphine, chloral, cocaine or similar drugs.
