Woman's sphere in this 20th century fa ot limited any more tkan ts man's. She. can occupy almost any business position or profession, and yet the popular view of womanhood is that she best fits the position of wife and mother and head ot the aouschold. Every girl should know her keart and also know that her womanly system is equal to the strain of marriage. If girt is nervous and irritable ten chances to one it is due to some trouble peculiar to womanhood. Cupid has no place in a girl's heart if At is nervous and irritable, feels dragged down, worn out for no reason that she can think of. The weak back, dizzy spells and Mack circles about the eyes are only symptoms. Go to the source of the trouble and correct the irregularity. Stop the drains on the womanly system and the other symptoms will disappear. This can be done easily and intelligently. So sure of it is the World's Dispensacy Medical Association, the proprietors of Dr. Pierce's Favorite Prescription, that they offer $500 teward for women who cannot be cured of lencorrhea, female weakness, prolapsus, or falling ofthe womb. All they ask is a fair and reasonable trial of their means of cure. "Your 'Favorite Prescription cured me of let-ration and inflammation, from which I suffered for many years." writes Mrs. Iielphia Wieaton, President Kant Barbara Lawn Tenuis Club, Arliugton Hotel, Santa Barbara, Calif. Health was completely broken down when I bepan its use and I was in dreadful pain most of the time, but ten bottl .'a cured me." "Favorite Prescription" makes weak women strong-, nick women well. Accept no substitute for the mxlicine which works wonders for weak women. Dr. Pierce's Pleasant Pellets are the most desirable laxative for d :licate women. If cm -I THEATRE O. 3 1 J l f. AMUSEMENTS
"Checkers. There will be the charm of love the joy of laughter and the thrill of sensationalism at the Gennett theatre next Friday evening-, when "Checkers," the new race track play, with Hans Robert in the title role, will be presented here. "Checkers" has proved one of the few reat successes of the last two seasons in New York, Boston, Chicago and also in Philadelphia.. It has just finished its fourteenth engagement and will play four more engagements in New York this season, a unique record for popularity. It has been described as a breezy, realistic, convincing and amusing comedy-drama, which appeals directly to an American audi- . -. . ... 1 i ence." Jt win receive an eiaoorate production on the stage of the nett theatre, and the story will be interpreted by a very large company, including for principals, besides Mr. Robert, Miss Katherine Mulkins, Miss Lydia Dickson, Miss Alice Martin, Mr. David Braham, Jr., Mr. V. T. Clark, Mr. Howard Smith, Mr. Frank Monroe, Mr. Wallace "Worsley, Ella Sothern and Myra Mae Reynolds. The story in brief is that of a nervy brilliant young American who has been following the race track for a living, falling in love with a charming girl from the West, 'being persuaded-by her to abandon his hazardous habits, his endeavoring to do so, his failure, his phmgs back to the track, his triumph, his vital assistance rendered at a crucial moment tolas sweetheart's father and a happy ending for all concerned. A scene unequaled in stae annals is promised for the third set. Tt represents the betting ring in the full blast of speculation on Derby Day in Washington Park, Chicago. Professioiial bookmakers who have seen 1 the play, pronounce it the most thrilling race track effect ever presented on thp stsvo. rind .Tnrob T.itf. iho Hip- i atiical manager, whose production of j "The Suburban," is known to play-j goers far and neear. declares that the j betting ring scene in "Checkers" is; the greatest race track scene he has ever had the good fortune to witness. Proving a Strong Attraction. Favorable comment being made on the bill being presented at the New Phillips this week, especially the j marvelous demonstrations made with liquid air, is serving to keep the pati uiiage at u aign ngure. many xaces a 1 ; 1 - c n l are seen 111 lue auuience mis wees that have perhaps never witnessed a vaudeville bill before, attracted by the liquid air experiments, which cannot fail to interest any one who will take the opportunity to witness them. The great possibilities of li(luitl air are made Plain b3r thc tcsts and lecture that is given in , connection with them. Charles Miller, who is putting on a black face monologue turn, is one of the best in this line and succeeds in keeping his audience almost in constant laughter. He has much to offer that is new and has nothing in his talk that can be taken exception to. Addison and Livingston, who put on a comedy skit, are away above the average in this line. Their singing and dancing is a feature. Cal Lankert 's songs this week are especially well adapted to his voice and serve to get the melody to its 'full extent. It may not be known to the general public, but it is a fact that New Phillips audiences get more for their mon ey in the number of acts on the bill and in the high price of the acts, than is given at a great many of the vaudeville houses. Manager Murray believes it is a paying proposition to give the public all that he can conscientiously furnish for the money and this he is doing.
