A Trip to Africa." The New York World of Tuesday October 18, publishes the following in regard to "A Trip to Africa" company, which will be presented at the New Phillips nest Monday, matinee and night. "The colored four hundred turned out to see John Larkins and a real colored show at the Third Avenue Theatre last night. It was a new venture a first night. It was one of the -best shows of its kind presented here for some time and it was not a Williams and Walker affair. There was plenty of 'ye olde tyme songs' and many new musical numbers and dances were numerous. The watermelons and chicken and 'possums and sweet potaties figured prominently. Large and gorgeous floral pieces passed over the footlights, for everyone, appropriately. Mr. Larkin and his company made a big hit with the audience. The Berry Stock Company Will Entertain For Three Nnights at the New Phillips. - Old Boreas will back down and out tonight, when the Berry Stock Co., opens its engagement for three nights at the New Phillips. This company presents plays of .merit, filled with plenty of good new comedy and invariably "warms up" an audience to the point of enthusiastic applause. The company numbers fifteen acting people, all of whom are capable entertainers and an evening of wholesome enjoyment is anticipated by a large crowd of theatre goers tonight who will witness "A Flag of Truce" one of the most beautiful semi-military dramas ever staged. Two of the bloodhounds belonging to Stetson's Double Monster Uncle Tom's Cabin Co., which is to exhibit at the Gennett Theatre next Monday matinee and night were recently im ported Irom biberia by Manager Kibble at a cost of $500, 5f 45- Jf "The Harvester," The orchard scene in the foth act of "The Harvester," soon to be seen here at the Gennett theatre is said 'to be one of the most beautiful stage pictures of its kind ever presented. "Eight Bells." The new "Eight Bells" the successful comedy which the Bros. Byrne are responsible for, will be the attraction at the Gennett Theatre for one performance only, on Tuesday, January 3rd. This Byrne production shows great improvement over its predecessors in this line. The sensational features being much stronger in every way. One can hardly appreciate the extent of this comedy until they witness it, then the conviction wil come that no more seemingly funny performance was ever devised. It is not to the lines of the play but to the wonderful mechanical and scenic effects and the clever gymnastic work of the Brothers, who continue the life of the performance, aided bv a well balanced company that the success of the company is attributed. From the rise of the first to the fall of the last curtain everybody is working hard. Tt is go from beginning to end, and so humorous are some of the situations that the audience shows a disposition to resent the excellence of the performance, for, laughing Upwards the close suggests the explosive sounds from tired lungs and throats. In this season's production there is a great improvement over 'their past work showing a desire on the part of the Brothers Byrne tr keep pantomimic comedy up to its original' at tractiVness, and they succeeded in giving a very entertaining and catchy performance. Taken in its entirety, " The New Eight Bells," is one of the greatest productions of pantomimic Vomedy this country has ever seen. Head About to Burst From Severe Bilious Attack.
