Large Amount of It Made in Calif or-!
ma. Los Angeles, Cal., Dec 26. The sweet wine output of Northern California for 1904 will approximate 1, 400,000 gallons, which is forty per cent larger than the estimate made last July before the grape crop was ripe. It was then believed that 22,000 tons of grapes would be crushed yielding 1,000,000 gallons of wine. Up to the present time 1,240,257 gallons of wine have been made, or about seven-eights of the entire output. Last season from $S to $12 per ton was paid for black grapes and from $10 to $14 for white grapes, and the percentage of saccharine matter was $23. This year, while the tonnage is large, the percentage of saccharine matter is smaller and the price has averaged from $9 to $10 per ton. For grapes having 20 per cent or more of saccharine matter $14 a ton is paid. The extraordinary hot weather of late summer and fall work great harm to the grapes while the storm
of several weeks ago, which damaged the Northern grapes severely, reaily helped in Southern. California.
Where last year the greatest grapes to be harvested contained from 26 to 2S per cent, of saccharine matter, the
late grapes this year contain only from 17 to 18 per cent.
Prices will be a little better this season than last, -when the average price per gallon for the whole output
was from 30 to 32 cents. This season
from 31 to 33 cents will be realized. The demand is good. Eastern buyers held off easily in the season on reports of an enormous grape crop.
but the climatic conditions produced a change Manufacture of sweet wine this season so far is divided as follows: Muscatel, 51,237 gallons; Angelica 241,784 gallons; port, 621,457 gallons; sherry, 325,743 gallons. Total 1,240,257 gallons.
Beware of Ointments for Catarrh
That Contain Mercuhy. Hall's Family Pills are the best.
as mercury will surely destroy the
sense of smell and completely de
range the whole system when enter
ing it through the mucuous surfaces.
Such articles should never be used except on prescriptions from reputable physicians, as the damage they
Avill do is ten fold to the good you
can possibly derive from them. Hall's Catarrh Cure, manufactured by F. J. Cheney & Co., Toledo, O., contains no mercury, and is taken internally, acting directly upon the
blood and mucous surfaces of the
system. In buying Hall's Catarrh Cure be sure you get the genuine. It is taken internally and made in To
ledo, Ohio, by F. J. Cheney & Co. Testimonials free. Sold by Druggists. Price 75c per bottle. i

Avrful Suffering of a Boy from an Itching Humour.
CURED BYCUTICURA Hot One Square Inch of Skin on St m m m m m aa. m m mm
His Whole Body Was Unaffected.
My little son, a boy of five, broke out with an itching rash. Three doctors prescribed for him, bat he kept getting worse until we could not dress him any more. They finally advised me to try a certain medical college, but its treatment did not do any good. At the time I was induced to try Cuticura
liemeaies he was so bad that I had to cut his hair off and put the Cuticura Ointment on him on bandages, as it was impossible to touch him with the bare hand. There was not one square Inch of skin on his whole body that was not affected. He was one mass of sores. The bandages used to stick to his skin and In removing them it used to take the skin off with them, and the screams from the poor child were heart-breaking. I began to think that he would never get well, but after the second application of Cuticurc Ointment I began to see signs of improvement, and with the third and fourth applications the sores commenced to dry up. His skin peeled off twenty times, but It finally yielded to the treatment. I used the Cuticura Resolvent for his blood, and now I can say that he is entirely cured, and a stronger end healthier boy you never saw than he is to-day ROBERT WATTAM, 4922 Center Ave., Chicago, 111., Dec 30, 1897.
