That this comedy is a most popular one is attested by the fact that it has played to larger audiences and made more money for its author than an' other of the "A Trip to Chinatown" is full of the ginger, snap and action so necessary to the play of the Iloyt type. There is of course nothing serious about the play, but it is replete with brilliant repartee and laughable situations. There is the usual amount of specialty and vaudeville business and the musical features are bright and catchy. "A Trip to Chinatown" has undoubtedly struck the keynote of the popular taste. CIGAR DEALER Says Men Are Swearing Off Smoking. A local cigar dealer had the following tale of woe to deliver yesterday: "When the cold winds begin blowing, then our business falls off. In the summer time our best trade is on. Men who usually smoke have a cigar in their mouths while walking down the street. As soon as snow falls and the air is filled with frost they leave off smoking on the streets. This in a measure temporizes the habit with them and they do not: do so much smoking when they are at home. "This year we have had good. pleasant weather until a few days ago. For the past month or six weeks the cigar trade has been falling off. There are not as many pipes or cigarettes sold and I am unable to account fur the big decline in the business. It may be that many young men have retrenched on their cigar money that they might save it for Christmas. If such is the case , it is the first time in my memory that, j such retrenchment took place prior j to New Year's day. A that time the; cigar business always falls off for at least one month. Thousands of men at that time "swear toff" with good intentions of not smoking any more. This lasts about a month or six weeks and we can easily see the way the resolutions are broken by the steady advance in the sale of our goods.
