BICHZIOND DAILY PALLADIUU, TUESDAY MORNING, DECEMBER 20, 1904:

A WIFE'S CONFESSION. ly Of orarse every one knew when they irere engaged and every one pretended to be surprised when

they heard it was suddenly broken off. It was first said she had broken it off, then that his heart had changed, but finally she confessed that she had "been so irritable, so depressed and blue that she had fairly driven him away. Her good looks were vanishing. She was getting thin, pale, and hollow -cheeked, with dark circles around her eyes. Suddenly all society was pleased again to hear of the engagement being renewed, and it was not long before a beautiful and radiant bride was taken to the altar. She had regained her good looks, her former happy disposition and strong nerve all through a secret a friend gave her. A few bottles of ,Dr. Pierce's Favorite Prescription is what made two more lives happy and a radiant bride more beautiful than she had ever appeared before. ' Backed up by over a third of a century of remarkable and uniform cures, a record uch as no other remedy for the diseases and weaknesses peculiar to women ever attained, the proprietors and makers of Dr. Pierce's Favorite Prescription now feel rally warranted in offering to pay $500 in legal money of the United States, for any case of Ieucorrhea, Female Weakness, Prolapsus or Falling of Womb which they cannot cure. All they ask is a fair and reasonable trial of their means of cure. Mrs. O. O. Scripture, of Prescott, Ariz., I,. Box 536, writes : " For nearly two years I was a great sufferer with ulceration and enlargement of womb, also suffered severely with dyspepsia and was run down a perfect wreck. I doctored for aeveral years ; got no better, until about seven months ago I began taking Dr. Pierce's Favorite Prescription and ' Pleasant Pellets.' I can stand on my feet and work hard all day. I feel that life is now worth living, and shall ever feel grateful to you and shall always recommend your tnediciues to all who are suffering in any way." asal CATARRH In all its stages there ahocld tec clcaiiiiaePB. WIFE BEATER FINED IN COURT

ROBERT J. GOULD GIVEN THE LIMIT PROMISES TO LEAVE CITY His Wife Caused His Arrest on Sunday Night She Will Not Live with Him. Yesterday morning1 in police court R. J. Gould pleaded guilty to the charge of wife beating and Mayor Zimmerman assessed a fine of $25 and costs and added a sentence of thirty days in jail. Gould was arrested on Sunday evening by Patrolman MeNally on a complaint of Mrs. Gould. -After the sentence was pronounced,' Gould asked permission to speak to his wife. This was given and after a few moments of conversation the couple decided that they could not1 live together and that they had better separate. Gould then asked if -the sentence would be suspended if he would leave town. The mayor consented to do this and Gould promised to leave town before 8 o'clock last evening. The couple were only married last October and have been in this city but a short time. They have been rooming in North Seventh street just off of Main street. Gould is a traveling man and sells gas regulators. Mrs. Gould alleged in court that her married life had been one of extreme cruelty and that the long silence had almost resulted in her physical wreck. Gould claimed that he had been in ill health and that his .wife had not shown the affection that was due him and that she was lavishing her affections on other men. If Gould ever breaks his promise to his wife Mayor Zimmerman warned him that he would be arrested and returned to Richmond, where he would have to serve sixty-four days in jail. Beware of Ointments for Catarrh That Contain Mercuhy. Hall's Family Pills are the best, as mercury will surely destroy the sense of smell and completely de range the whole system when entering it through the mucuous surfaces. Such articles should never be used except on prescriptions from reputa ble physicians, as J,he damage they will do is ten fold to the good you can possibly derive from them. Hall's Catarrh Cure, manufactured by F. J. Cheney & Co., Toledo, O., contains no mercury, and is taken in ternally, acting directly upon the blood and mucous surfaces of the system. In buying Hall's Catarrh Cure be sure you get the genuine. It is taken internally and made in To ledo, Ohio, by F. J. Cheney & Co. Testimonials free. Sold by Druggists. Price 75c per bottle. . Children eat, sleep and grow after taking Hollister's Rocky Mountain Tea. Brings rosy cheeks, laughing eyes, good health and strength. A tonic for sickly children. 35 cents, Tea or Tablets. A. G.
