A Beautiful Finale. The "Eagles" are as busy as robbiiis at cherry time jut now preparing for tl)eir first minstrel earnival which occurs at the d'ennett Theatre December 22, 23. This popular order never does anytiiin by halves and when the curtain roils up on the first part it will disclose a sevne of beauty and 50 well known younjr men who have had the benefit of nightly rehearsals for a solid month. The grawl finale will be the prettiest stage effect ever witnessed in connection with a minstrel event. Tickets are selling rapidly and the boys are making a noble effort to secure one of the beautiful chains. M :r -t w As Popular as Ever. Robert Sherman and an excellent company presenting the great coined v drama "Mv Friend From Arkansaw," which will be seen at the New Phillips Saturday next matinee and night. This play has been presented in our city before but when last seen here Mr. Sherman himself was not with the company and our citizens no doubt will be highly pleased to see this excellent actor and his clever company in this highly entertaining pby. "Hoity Toity." That Manager Swisher of the Dennett Tlu-atre is keenly olive to the situation, is strikingly demonstrated by the announcement that he lias secured for an engagement of one performance only, Tuesday evening, December Kith, Weber and Fields' famous .$25,000 production of "Iloity Toity," which is said to have been a success without a parallel in this style of amusement. At the close of their New York season in the late Spring, Weber and Fields make a short tour of from four to six weeks covering a few of the principal cities only. So great is the demand for a Weber and Fields production that these managers have yielded to the importunities, and will put on the road this season, their phenomenal success "Hoity Toity," which ran for a solid ear at their New York theatre to capacity business, and could easily have run another, had Weber and Fields cared to deviate from their established policy of an en tircly new production every season. It is fortunate for our lovers of light amusement, that this combination of tuneful melody, bright, snappy comedy without a suggestion of vulgarity, magnificent scenery, and a chorus noted for its stunning beauty and ability, is coming our way. The disappearance of young girls is giving the police of almost every city in the United States, untold trouble; and not a clew is left by which they can be traeed. San Francisco being the American headquarters of that powerful secert organization known ;is the "Highbinders." has been the scene of these mysterious crimes and while it is almost impossible to secure evidence against this fiendish band, the authorities claim that these abductions have been for the purpose of supplying Oriental Mandarins with white brides. It wrs nn nt tempt on the lib erty of a yount;- society woman, which was fortunately frustrated by the U. S. Secret Service, which gave to Arthur J. Lamb, a resident of San Francisco, the story of the "Queen of the White Slaves," which A. II. Woods will present at the Dennett Theatre, matinee and night. Saturday December 17th.
