OIL LAND
Near Hagerstown Being Bought by F. H. Mourse. Attorney H. H. Evans, of New .Castle, has completed the leasing for oil purposes of 1,000 acres of land for F, H. Mourse, the wild-cat operator of Pittsburg. The land leased lies in the vicinity of Messick and Moreland, not far from the "Friday" well which was struck near Hagerstown. It is expected that some test wells will be sunk on the leases within a short time. The Standard Oil Company has not been slow, either. In the northern part of the county, near Middletown, the Standard people have leased over 3,000 acres, and, it is said, will soon commence active operations So far oil has only been struck in paying quantities in two wells in Henry county, namely, the wells on the Clark Hosier farm, southwest of the city. These wes continue to make good and every available foot of ground in the locality is leased. The big companies seem to have faith in Henry county as a promising field. Byan to Meet Melody. Harlem, 111., Dec. 12. Kid Howard, the match maker of the Harlem J A. C, has clinched a match between Huddy Kyan, the white welterweight champion and Billy Mellody, of New England, which takes place here tonight. The men will fight six rounds at 142 pounds. In their last contest Ryan knocked out Mellody in the first round. WONDERFUL WORK Lots Like it Being Done Right Here In Richmond, Richmond people are surprised at the work being done by "The Little Conqueror." Public expression on the subject brings the matter frequently before the people. At first there were many doubters; and why not? So many claims of a similar nature have been made with little or no backing", excepting, the word of some stranger residing in a far-away place this evidence was accepted for lack of better. Not necessary to accept it any longer. All sufferers from any kidney ill can find plenty of local indorsement for a remedy that will cure them. Surely the wonderful work of Doan's Kidney Pills right here at home is proof sufficient to satisfy any skeptic. Read the expression of one citisen on the subject : Mrs. Jennie Laudig, 16 south 11th street says: "As a result of a severe attack of diphtheria my daughter was troubled with weakness of the kidneys. I tried numerous remedies and she was treated by various physicians but their relief was only temporary. Learning about Doan's Kidney Pills and seeing them so highly recommended I procured a box at A. G. Luken 's drug store. In a short time the ,trobule entirely disappeared." For sale by all dealers. Price 50 cents a box. Foster-Milburn Co., Buffalo, N. Y., sole agents for the United States. Remember the name Doan's and take no substitute. Trust Those Who Have Tried. Tired Nervous When you feel languid, tired, nervous and irritable, your vitality is low -your supply of nerve energy exhausted, and your system running down for lack of power. The organs of the body are working poorly, or not at all, and you are not getting the nourishment needed. This soon impoverishes the blood and instead of throwing off the impurities, distributes it all through the body. This brings disease and misery. Feed the nerves with Dr. Miles' Nervine, a nerve food, a nerve medicine, that nourishes and strengthens the nerves, and see how quickly you will get strong and vigorous. "My wife suffered with nervousness previous to a recent attack of typhoid fever, but after her recovery from the fever, she was much worse, and could hardly control herself being exceedingly nervous when the least excited. She was very restless at night, and never had a g-ood night's rest. She also suffered much from nervous headache. Dr. Miles' Nervine was recommended by a friend. After the first three doses she had a good night's rest, and at the end of the first week's treatment she was wonderfully Improved. Continued use of Nervine has completed her entire cure." OTTO KOLB. 1021 Cherry St., Evansville, Ind. Dr. Miles' Nervine Is sold by your druggist, who will guarantee that the first bottle will benefit. If It falls, ha will refund your money. FOREST FIRE Does Much Damage Near Williams burg. "Word has been received here that fire in the woods Friday near Williamsburg, destroyed standing timber valued at several thousand dollars. For a time it was feared a number of buildings would be destroyed, as the flames, fanned by a strong wind, swept across fields to another strip of timber. Hundreds of men worked for hours before the fire was under control. The present drought is the worst experienced here in thirty years. Cisterns, wells, springs and streams are dry in many places, and live stock must be driven miles to water in some communities. FOR PARDON Of John Terrell a Petition Circulated in Court. Bluffton, Ind., Dec. 11. The first petition for the pardon of John Terrell has made its appearance in the circuit court and it was circulated among officers of the court and county officials. It was readily signed by a number of the officials when pre sented by Attorney C. E. Sturgis, and duplicates will probably be circulated all over the county. Even though Terrell should not be granted a pardon, his attorneys have considerable grounds for hope for him gfrom the supreme court, before which the case was taken on appeal; but it will be some time before that is heard. They believe that there are enough errors in the case to secure a new trial, if not an absolute reversal of the findings, but will try to secure a pardon, for fear Terrell will not live to the end of the litigation. Be Quick. Not a minute should be lost when a child shows symptoms of croup.
