Notes From Unions Throughout the Country. Toronto's labor temple will be formally opened on December 21. A levy of 12 cents a member has

Miss., will on January 1 demand $4 a day for tight hours' work.

recently and decided to dissolve the former assembly and to form a union, henceforth to be affiliated with he A. F. of L. According to the report of the United States Commissioner of Education, the average monthly wages of teachers for 1903 was $49 for men and about $40 for women. Less than 28 per cent, of the teachers were men, or 122,382 out of a total of 439,596. A committee has been appointed by the Minneapolis (Minn.) Structural Iron Workers' Union to formulate a new wage scale for presentation to the employers. The union voted unanimously to continue its affiliation with the National Structural Building Trades Alliance. A report is current that Andrew Carnegie is planning to present to the labor unions of the United States a handsome hall of labor, to be erected in New York and modeled along the lines of the Palace of Peace recently presented to The Hague. Mr. Carnegie is being supported by laboring men for the presidency of the Civic Federation.
