The regular monthly business meeting of the Flower Mission took place yesterday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Richard Study in North D street. There was a large attendance. The reports of the past month's work were read by the several vice presidents and quite a number of new cases, calling on the society for help were distributed and will be pronerly cared for before the next meetir?, the second Friday in January, nnMiss Edna Miller, of 110 North Tenth street will be the hostess. Miss Ada Fox is visiting in Indianapolis, where she will be the guest of Mrs. B. F. Hetherington for
a few days.
Miss Ethelle de Koven, daughter
of the well known American composer, Reginald de Koven, of "Robin Hood" fame, is t6 have a presenta
tion to society next Monday which
will be a delightful novelty in the monotony of debutant parties. It Avill be a tea and dancing matinee, which is a more fitting function than the stand-up-and-shake-hands affair, which is the prevailing fashion for the buds. It is much more delightful
or a girl to dance her way into so
ciety than it is to have to stand beside her mother for several hours, while the line files past her and keeps
her arm in almost continuous mo-
ion. Miss de Koven is a gifted girl
with inherited musical talent from
her father, and inherited literary
alent from her mother, a daughter
of the late ex-Senator Farwell, of Montana, who is well known for her books and magazine articles. Miss de Koven has written many charming verses for her father's music. She will have her dancing matinee in the beautiful ballroom of Willard's Hotel instead of the spacious, old-fashioned house which they occupy at the corner of Vermont avenue and E street, formerly the home of General Meigs. Indianapolis News. The Young "Women's Christian Temperance Union will hold its regular meeting Monday evening at 7 o'clock at the home of Miss Vera Smith, 220 North Sixteenth street. The program will consist of a question box and several five-minute talks by members. All young people interested in this organization will be welcome. 4 The Ladies of the Maccabees of this city delightfully entertained twenty-five guards and officers from Dayton Thrusday afternoon, the party conducting an initiation here. The degree drill was given by the ladies in costume. Musical numbers were rendered by Miss Huff, of Dayton. The following program was rendered: Welcome address, Mrs. Edith Huddleston; response, Mrs. Hannah, past commander, of Dayton; recitiation, Mrs. Hopkins, of Dayton; piano solo, Miss McDuff; recitation, Mrs. Edith Huddleston. Refreshments were served and a most enjoyable session recorded.
What One of Eichmond's Institu-
tions is Doing. The demand made upon the Busi
ness College in the past few weeks
iave been astonishing. They have re
ceived fifteen calls from Banks, 1
Railroads and Manufacturing con
cerns for competent office help. Of these fifteen, they had only four students out of employment whom they could place in these positions. It is
strange how many young men do not
realize that by attending Night School three nights a week they can obtain an education which will place

First Performance of Verdi's "Oth
ello" in Cincinnati. The Cincinnati Opera Festival will
have a brilliant opening event on Monday night, December 12th, with
the first performance in that city of
Verdi's celebrated masterpiece,
"Othello." This noble work, with
its glorious harmonies and dramatic
grandeur, is most admired by music
enthusiasts of all the Italian com
poser's compositions. The Shakespearean text has been restored for
the libretto, and when sung in Eng
lish it has added literary and high educational value for all who desire a complete understanding of the opretta. "Othello" abounds in stirring song numbers and will he rendered by the same cast that scored such a pronounced triumph in New York
when Mr. Savage gave the opera its
first production in the vernacular
last year. The singers will include
Joseph Sheehan. the -greatest high C
tenor in the world, who has Tamag-
no'5 original role of Othello; Ger
trude Rennyson, the superb dramatic soprano, whose Desdemona has placed her in the class of Mme. Eames, and Winfred Goff, unquestionably America's finest baritone, who will be heard as Iago. The orchestra of forty New York Symphony Orchestra musicians, will be under the authorative direction of the Chevalier Emanuel, who has held the baton over all the leading singers of Europe during the past twenty years. The selection of Verdi's complete composition will make the Opera Festival opening one of the most important musical events of the year in Cincinnati, insuring a representative and distinguished audience.
Worst of All Experiences. Can anything be worse than to feel that every minute will be your last? Such was the experience of Mrs. S. H. Newson, Decatur, Ala. For three years" she ewrites, "I en-
udred insufferable pain from indiges
tion, stomach and bowel trouble. Death seemed inevitbale when doctors and all remedies failed. At
length I was induced to try Electric
Bitters and the result was miraculous. I improved at once and now I am completely recovered. Fir Liver, Kidney, Stomach and Bowel troubles Electric Bitters is the only medicine. Only 50c. It's guaranteed by A. G.
