The Public is Asked to Co-operate With the Association to Prevent Begging.
The monthly meeting of the Associated Charities was held yesterday afternoor. at the headquarters. A large number of bills cairie before the meeting amounting to $115.06 for the month of November. The report of the missionary indicated a busy month. As the winter weather is upon us, there is an increased demand upon our funds. "We are very grateful to those who have responded to our appeal. The Treasurer was able to make a very encouraging report. About 140 persons have responded to the appeal, with some few regrets. If the remainder who have the appeal in their hands will respond, the Association will be able to do the required work, and help the needy of our city. "We do most heartily thank the peo pie who have co-operated with the Association either by phone or personally, in giving us information in reference to parties who are going about from house to house begging. Some of these are unworthy of help, and by laziness and drunkenness. We feel quite sure that . the people who support the work of the Associated Charities are not anxious to sup port the saloon. "We ask again, and urge you, as business people and private families report all such cases to us, either by phone, letter or personally, and we will investigate them properly, and do what is right; and what you would approve. C. Iluber, President.
