In our largest cen -ters' of population,
. such as New York and Chicago, we daily see snore attention given to' the inner - man.
Cafes and lunch-rooms are filled with men and women who seem to give all their time and attention to thoughts of properly or improperly feeding their stomachs. "It is f course best to eat slowly, but not too much." says Dr.'i Pierce, chief consulting 5 physician to the Invalids' Hotel and Suri gical Institute, of Buffalo, N. Y. In this aoth-century people devote so much time to bead work that their brain is fagged and there isn't sufficient blood left to properly , take care of the other organs of the body. The stomach must be assisted in its hard work the liver started into action by the S use of a pood stomach tonic, which should W entirely of vegetable ingredients and without alcohol. " After years of experience in an -active practice Dr. Pierce "discovered a remedy that suited these conditions in a blood-maker and tissue-builder. 4 He called it Dr. Pierce's Golden Medical Discovery an alterative extract that assists in the digestion and assimilation of the food in the stomach so that the blood gets what it needs for food arid oxidation, the liver is sr at the same timer started into- artivitv and
there fs perfect elimination of waste matC . wrl. t J - j . .

' (leorge 13. Cortelyou, chairman of
the Republican national committee,
says he is confident that Roosevelt
and Fairbanks will carry every Nor
thern State, with the possible exception of Maryland and Nebraska, ind will have 314 of the 476 electoral votes. The Democratic national committee professes to believe that the
Democrats will carry New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Delaware, or Indiana for Parker and Davis. Maryland is con ceded to the Democrats; West Virginia is close, and the mountain silver States are in doubt. Of the doubtful States, about which there has been so much talk, interest centers in New York. Persons who have observed the trend of the campaign there from the beginning believe the Democratic State ticket will be elected. Undoubtedly it is this trend for their State ticket that encourages the Democrats to believe that Parker and Davis may also carry the State. y The indications are that the Dem-
crats will be comforted bv .the election of governors in a few States
they have been losing renilarly for the last twelve years. William L Douglas, their candidate in Massachusetts, seems to have a chance; it looks as if Governor Garvin, their nominee in Rhode Island, might be re-elected; they have fair prosoects of winning on their State ticket in West Virginia, and the pouular impression is, that they will elect their State ticket in Colorado.
