AMUSEMENTS

The Ashland Dramatic Company will open a week's engagement tonight at the Gennett theatre, with one of the strongest plays in its repertoire. The bill is "Lost and Won" and is considered to be a melodrama far above the average. It tells of a wronged, suffering wife, and her tribulations contending with poverty in the slums of New York city. A lovig husband, who is led on to almost distraction by a scheming adventuress, a child of the wronged life, who plays a very important role that of the little mother a team of Hibernian servants whose actions keep the audience convulsed with laughter, and a number of other important characters 4hat serve to make this opening attraction one of the most successful of the season. Between the acts will be seen Mr. Charles Glocker, the world's champion lightning baton and gun manipulator; Little Bessie, the smallest and cleverest child-actress on the American stage; Harry Phillips, the funny tramp juggler; Blanche Frame the vivacious soubrette; Bob Folson, the exponent of comic and topical songs, and the greatest of all moving picture machines, the Kineascope, with a plentiful supply of the latest views and incidents. Free seats to the ladies tonight. Go early and get good ones, for the number is limited! Flectrieity has furnished many startling stage novelties for "The Royal Chef," the latest musieal comedy success, which comes to the Gennett theatre, tomorrow evening, after having experienced a phenomenal run of twent ynights at the Garrick theatre, Chicago. In the "Mother Goose" song, which is one of the distinctive successes of this musical menu, the chorus utilize electrical effects, and which have assisted materially in creating for the "broilers" the reputation of the best drilled chorus ever seen on any stage. "Old Arkansaw." "Old Arkansaw," the comedy scenic production, which left such a pleasant impression on our theatergoers, comes to the New Phillips on November 15. Among the many novel effects which it carries this season is a beautiful electric fountain, modelled after the one in Lincoln park, Chicago. Throwing a hundred separate streams of water each given a different color (with constant change of combination and color effect, by hidden mechanical' devices, one can readily imagine the beautiful effect. It hardly seems possible for a traveling eompanyto offer such a remarkable stage" effect, but the management of "Old Arkansaw," spares no expense in its effort to make the production the most complete of any that- is offered to the smaller cities of the United States and Canada. Chamberlain's Cough Remedy is Pleasant to Take. The finest quality of granulated loaf sugar is used in the manufacture of Chamberlain's Cough Remedy and the roots used in its preparation give it a flavor similar to maple syrup, making it quite pleasant to take. Mr. W. L. Roderick, of Poolesville, Md., in speaking of this remedy says: "I have used Chamberlain's Cough Remedy with my childen for several years and can truthfully say it is the best preparation of the kind I know of. The children like to take it and it has no injurious after effect. For sale by A. G. Luken & Co., and W. IT. Sudhoff, Fifth and Main streets. A Sure Thing.
