er been assembled in an- exhibition arena in the United States,' and the high place taken at the top of the list by Preble county breedrs gives our county a national reputation as the home of some of the best products of the swine family. In the Duroc class Mr. S. E. Morton, of Camden, won the highest honors in the face of a fierce eontesb made by the National Duroc Association against the breeders of the American Association, of which-Mr. Morton is president. The former had 30 herds on exhibition while the latter had but three, yet in the 17 competitive classes Mr. Morton captured 15 premiums, aggregate over $5,000, and gave to him the P.Muier Championship for iii. herd, which is awarded by the.liocvc1. Managers of the Fair as a special xeeognit'oh of the superiority of the herd, an.! is the most cove ted of all awards. Hie herd consisted of 28 head which were shown in the various classes against some 600 competitors. Preble county V honors did not end with the Duroe for S. E. Shellenberger, with hie Poland Chir herd came home in second place, the first having gone to Winn & Mast in of Kansas City. The Chester White honors went to a Mr. Harding, of Ohio, and the Berkshire honors to N. H. Jentry, of Sedalia, Mo.
