' I enjoyed good health until about two year toto when I noticed my back began to ache frequently; it became sore and lame, and headache toon added to my misery: also found that my ' ireneral health diminished. I became thin ana weak, and nervous, having severe pains at regular intervals," writes Mrs. Augustus Emory, Treasurer New Century Club, 34 Dean Street (Koxbury), Boston, Mass. She continues: "Mr work which before had seemed an easy task ocm seemed like a heavy burden. I decided t try Dr. Pierce's Favorite Prescription, which several of my friends praised so highly. I felt relief within a week, my appetite came back, the ymins gradually decreased and I enjoyed sound cleep. Within fourteen weeks X had completely recovered my haalth. I seemed built up anew, my pulse, which had been weak , became normal, and new life animated my entire being. gladly endorse your medicine." DEMOCRATIC CIRCULAR
THAT IS MISLEADING SENT OUT OVER THE STATE.
RAILROAD VALUATIONS
Said to Have Been Decreased by the State Board of Tax Com-missioaers.
A card circulated throughout the state in behalf of Democratic state and legislative candidates in the last days of the campaign sets up the claim that the valuation of railroads in Indiana has been decreased during the period of Republican control of the State Board of Tax Commissioners more than six million dollars. This statement is untrue. It further alleges that the valuation of express companies in Indiana was reduced this year eight hundred thousand dollars, but it conceals the fact that this reduction was the result of a decision by the United States Supreme Court against the present Tax Board
and in favor of the express companies which has appealed from the Board's decision, but that even after this reduction has been involuntarily made the present valuation largely exceeds that fixed by the last Democratic Board of State Tax Commissioners. The records show that the valuation of corporate property (railways, telegraph, telephone, express, transportation companies, etc) as fixed by the last Democratic State Board ot Tax Commissioners in 1894 was
$100,630,000. Valuation of the same as fixed by the Kepublican State Board in 1904 $190,939,177. Increase 22 y2 Per Cent. Valuation of farm lands and improvements in Indiana by last Democratic State Tax Board in 1894 $540,676,155. Valuation as fixed by Republican
State Tax Board in 1904 $596,357,758. Increase IOV2 Ier Cent, or Less than One-half the Relative Increase Placed on Corporate Property. In This County. Valuation farm lands and improvements, 1S94 $9,565,715; 1904, $9,435,500. Fer cent, increase. 436,500. Decrease 1 per cent. Valuation corporate property, 1S94 2,269,205; 1904, $3,218,486. Increase 44 per cenf. Valuation express, telegraph, telephone and sleeping car companies, 1894-71,619; 1904, $288,048. Moreover. Value of property in this county, 1903, freed from taxation under Republican mortgage exemption law $747,880. Every dollar of which comes from property owned by individuals, and not by corporations, and much of it
conies from farm land.
Moreover. The average total state levy under
the Democratic period of control of Indiana from 1891 to 1895 was 35 cents on the hundred dollars; under the Republican period from 1895 to the present time the average rate has been 29.56 on the bunded dollars A decrease of 15 per cent. During the Republican period the
state debt has been reduced from $7,520,615.12 to $1.902,615.12 a to
tal of $5,618,000 or 75 per cent. A vote for Republican, state and legislative candidates is a vote for reduced taxation, decreased indebtedness and a fair division of taxation's burdens. WILLIAMSBURG. '
