They will begin soon to drill a test well two miles west of carthage, and will go four hundred feet in the rock if necessary. O. W. Riehter, of Carthage is putting down a well near the Beech, two and a half miles south west of here, for a Miuicie company. Newcastle, Ind., October 10. Oil of fine quality was struck today on Clark Hosier's farm, west of here. The wil was drilled by the Cincinnati Gas Company for gas, resulting in a fair flow. It was shot and produced oil in what is regarded as large quantity. A larger shot will be tried tomorrow. The well is eighteen feet in the rock. The gas is entirely replaced with oil. , Land owners in the vicinity are greatly excited. The company is

Are Killed by Railway Trains Near j,

Indianapolis. Indianapolis, Ind., October 19.

Two men, whose names are not

known, were killed bv trains this

morning. C, H. & I), train No. 36 ran down a man near Irvington while enterig (.he city about 2 o'clock this morning. There was nothing about the clothing that would lead to identification. The body was terribly mangled. Strickler, the engineer, said the man was lying on the tracks and, the train could not be stopped in. time to prevent the accident. The man paid no attention to the whistle. The pieces of body were placed on board the train and brought to the city. The city dispensary ambulance was calk'd and the remains were taken to lb morgue to await an investigation by the coroner. About 1 o'clock this mornng aj man was killed by an I. & V. freight train near Maywood. The deputy coroner was detailed to conduct an investigation.

Industrial Paper By D. M. Parry is Issued. Indiuapolis, Ind., October 19. The first copy of the Industrial Independent, the new industrial paper of D. M. Parry, eame from the press today. On the back page of the publication is an article, 'setting .-forth that the paper will act as an employment agency for the convenience of employers, but without using their names hnless they so desire. In connection vith this article is a coupon to be iilled out by a man desiring employment. It requests information as to age, trade, references and other matters, and exacts a pledge that the signer does not belong to "any organization that favors strikes or boycotts" and that he will not join such an organization.
