ter the ladies of the Flower Mission ; have planned to give a charity ball at the Coliseum. This has been made possible through the courtesy of the Republican County Central Committee who have offered the Flower Mission the large building free of charge. The exact date that the ball will be given has not yet been definitely decided on but it will be in about two weeks time. Tickets will probably be sold for $50e a couple and the committee in charge will in all cases withhold the right of refusing admittance to objectionable characters. The floor of the Coliseum is ideal as a dancing floor and with a full orchestra playing lively two steps and dreamy waltzes, and the beautiful decorations the affair promises to be not only a great financial success but also the swellest MAJOR ENNIS Will Vote Tor President Roosevelt. Mission is one of the city's worthiest charities and its name is a by word among the poor and afflicted of Richmond. The ladies of the mission during the winter make it their duty to see that the sick poor are provided with sufficient clothing, home comforts, food and medicine. In the summer Mrs. Burgess who lives south of the city keeps a flower garden for the Mission and it is the duty of the members of the flower committee to keep the sick poor and the hospital supplied with flowers. The following are officers of the organization: President, Miss Mary Shiveley; secretary, Mrs. Isaac Jay; treasurer, Mrs. Ada Iladley; vice presidents, Mrs. John Leive, Mrs. Thomas Jessup, Mrs. Harry Land, Miss Sallie Toe, Miss Ida Peltz and Mrs. Frank Butler.
The American people love leaders win have the courage of their convictions, and they are not attracted by the mute mummeries of mysterious inaction. As volunteers during the Spanish war, mv comrades and mvself envied you because we were not with you at San Juan and El Caney. There is, on careful reading of the platforms, but one real issue between the two great parties today. That issue is Theodore Roosevelt, and I am with the issue. They have put you on the firing line. Myself and niny of my comrades, who were in the garrison, will leave it in the broad daylight of 1004 to align ourselves where we wished to be in '98, with j Theodore Roosevelt, who reminds us of fJenernl Andrew Jackson, as sol(ipt statesman aiul American. " I myself will report immediately at the Republican national headquarters and volunteer until November S for service on the firing line, and undoubtedly others will do likewise, and we will there remain until the unshotted guns of our people will voice to the world another victory of the American public for progressive advancement, liberty and humanity. T have the honor to remain, sir, very respectfully, vour obedient servant, LAWRENCE M. ENNIS. Late Major Seventh Illinois Volunteer Infantry, Commanding Second Battalion. In Case of Accident.
