NUTTING SEASON
Boys Are All Trying to See Who Can Get the Darkest Stain. The nutting season is on, but the crop is small. The small boy is in his glory. The darker the stain he gets on his hands from hullin"' the nuts, the greater his delight. Regardless of the admonitions of parents arid school teachers against the practice the boys never fail to stain their hands. He whose hands are the darkest is regarded as having the largest harvest. However, some of the youngsters are of the opinion that this impression can be without actually gathering several bushels of nuts, and accordingly rub the green hulls on their hands. Green tomatoes, lemon juice, sapolio and a scrubbing brush are the remedies usually applied to remove the stain after the boys have become tired of the adopted hue. Driving Out the Enemy. These are the days of colds, sharp and sudden, attacking throat and lungs, and leading to consequences one does ot like to think about. Avoid further exposure and fight the enemy of health and comfort with Perry Da vis' Painkiller, the family stand-by for sixty years. It conquers a cold in a day. See that you get the right article. There is but one Painkiller, Perry Davis.' Card of Thanks. The near relatives of the late Dr. D. II. Yockey wish to express to their neighbors and friends, to Rich mond I. O. O. F. and to the Wayne County Medical Society their most sincere gratitude for the innumerable kindnesses extended to them during liit-ir recent bereavement. O OLIVE HILL. Miss Pearl Medearis one of our young ladies was married in Richmond on last Wednesday evening to Mr. Lovell Coony, of Ceuterville. We wish them success and a happy life. Mike Helms and Avife OliATer Cook and Avife and Will Cheesman Sundayed at Mike Kempton's. Remember that Anderson Toms and Will Cheesman will sell some pure bred cattle on October 18th, five miles north of Centervile. Clover seed is yielding about lJ2 bushels to the acre. Wheat is nearly all soAved. It has been a job to seed in corn. Acres will be few. The Republicans of 01i-e Hill will raise a pole and float the stars and stripes. Cause of Lockjaw. Lockjaw, or tetanus, is caused by a bacillus or germ which exists plentifully in street dirt. It is inactive so long as exposed to the air, but when carried beneath the skin as in thee wounds caused by percussion caps or by rusty nails, and when the air is excluded the germ is roused to activity and produces the most virulent poison known. These germs may be destroyed and all danger of lockjaw aAoided by applying Chamberlain's Pain Balm freely as soon as the injury is received. Pain Balm is an antiseptic and causes such injuries to heal without maturation and in one-third the time required by the usual treatment. It is for sale by A. G. Luken & Co., and W. H.
