England-Hook. As educators and public benefae1 tors, the England-Hook Indoor Cir cus, depict the splendid results of discipline, teaching, breeding, training and organizing, to say nothing of the wonders of natural history and the zoological zodiac of the zones. To deprive the youth of the land, from six to sixty, of the England-Hook Indoor Circus would be to make it no longer worth the while to linger upon this terraqueous globe. Existence, without its occasional visits, would lose its freshness and charm and we would soon forget that in the world there Avas much that was strange, curious and astonishing outside of our own village, town or city and our narrow lives It teaches the jouth of the land that, the greatest achievements are the results of close application and incessant effort. The boy cannot help bringing this truth home to his mind and heart since he sees youths like himself performing with ease and grace feats which to him are incredible and well night impossible of accomplishment. He knows from his slight experience that acrobat, gym nast, aerialist and equestrian have arrived at a state of splendid skill and well nigh perfect physical devel opment only after years of patient and painstaking efforts. Besides teaching this wholesome and hearty lesson that perfection is the result of patient effort, the feats of these peo - pie of the sawdust, delight and charm the young, especially, ever attracted by exhibition of strength and agility. The England-Hook Moving Pictures will be exhibited at the Gennett Theatre today, matinee and night. The Runaways. At last local theatre-goers will have an opportunity to witness an original production just as it was presented in New York City. Generally it is their fate to see the big musical successes played by No. 2, or No. 3 companies, while the original productcoin never goes out of the metropolis. The tide
has turned however, and the man- j organist, Avil make a tour this seaagement of the Oennett Theatre son of the entire United States and promises that the forthcoming pres-. Canada under the direction of Lou
entation of the big Slmbert, Nixon & Zimmerman muusical extravaganza entitled "The Runaways" with Arthur Dunn as the star, Avill be the same production that played for oTer six months at the New York Casino. Furthermore it is the only company ever organized to present this famous miisical comedy, in which will be seen eight comedians, three prima donnas, Perhaps You Wonder if the tormenting cold that made last winter cne long misery will be as bad this year. Certainly not, if you take Allen's Lung Balsam when tickling and raAvness in the throat announce the presence of the old enemy. Do not expect the cold to Avear itself out. Take the right remedy in time. Allen's Lung Balsam is free from opium. Superior to Imported Wines. Dr. S. F. Howland, formerly of 29 West 42nd St., NeAv York, says: I can say emphatically that the quality of Speer's wines for invalids is far better than any of the imported wnes. Monday evening, October 3rd. 4 4 The Midnight Flyer." Patrons of the theater today demand stirring plays of the realistic order and to meet the demand Mr. Ed Anderson is presenting "The Midnight Flyer, " which comes to the New Phillips today matinee and night. Mr. Anderson claims to carry more scenery and mechanical stage effects than any melodrama touring the country. The company prvsentinsr the play is said to be exe.-ptional-Iv good. Numbered with the cast is an old Richmond boy, Bert Noblette, wno xias iiiiauitu not a mue xaiuc in ms cnaracter creation, "ine Coon From Hoboken." The strength of the production merits good houses at both performances today. Thoroughbred Tramp. The " tramp" play with the knight of the road as the central figure will always retain a place in the hearts of the masses. The American public is sympathetic and they are always rea dy to listen to the story of the unfortunate, and this peculiar class of ne'er do Avell nomads amuse and at the same time appeal to them. Of the 1 numerous plays of this kind none have achieved greater success than Elmer Walters' big scenic production "A Thoroughbred Tramp," and cer ;tainly none deserves it more, for the attraction stands without a rival in its class. A play abounding with brilliant comedy, situatiaons and breath-holding dramatic climaxes, including the escape of the tramp on the baggage car and the race between a woman on horseback and a fastflying express train, mounted with a most elaborate scenic equipment, is well calculated to make a big success in these davs when the country is filled with mediocre attractions and , improperly produced plays. At the j Oennett Theatre Tuesday, October 4. Clarence Eddy. Clarence Eddy, tht Mr. eminent don G. Charlton. Mr. Eddy has been enthusiastically received by the musical public of Berlin, Taris, Rome and other European cities, and the press has uniformly ieeognized his performances as those of a master. An idea of his popularity in America may be gained from the fact that he had given more than 100 recitals here in a single season. Many Mothers of a Like Opinion. Mrs. Pilmer, of Cordova, Iowa, says: "One of my children Avas subject to croup of a severe type, and the giAing of Chamberlain's Cough Remedy promptly, always brought relief. Many mothers in this neighborhood think the same as I do about this remedy and want no other kind for their children." For sale bv A. G. Luken & Co., and W. II.
