She effect's a sensational escape, and after a run of ei'jht miles across the country, breathless, with her clothes torn, blooding, exhausted, stairtrers into the corridor. of the prison in time to save her brother's life, who in a fit of remorse, believing he has killed her, is about to commit suicide by stabbing himself with a dae;pvr the female villain has smuu'uled to his cell. The author is said to have handled his subject in a most delicate and masterly manner, and the story as presented appeals to all to assist rather than "turn down" those who are attempting to do rhrht. The Brandon Evans Stock Co. The Brandon Evans Stock company closes its encracrement in this city with toni-ht's bill, "In His Brother's Footsteps." The company is one that deserves the best of patron-asre-by appreciative theater pjoers. Mr. Evans has redeemend every promise made and should he nirain visit Richmond Avill be well received. The Big Minstrels. When a minstrel show plays to "capacity" in Chicago, the fact indicates a show of more than ordinary merit. The Chicago News in commentin?; upon the performance says: "An enjoyable ju'orr.ni was presented last niuht at the fJrand by the Christy brothers minstrels to the capacity of the theater. That minstrels have not lost their hold upon the publie was fully attested by the cordial reception piven at the performance. "Some of the turns were so heartily encored that it was Avith difficulty that the show could proceed. Comedians Ceorpe and Al Christy, of course, come in for the irreater share of applause. The minstrel first part setting was some-thine; new in that line the most beautiful sottinjr and effects ever seen. The sinaiu was rood, especially Cieorire, Fred and Al Christy, and the chorus also did their share to help make the si tiering i feature. "The olio which followed had some excellent features. The James brothers, who do buck and winsr daneinr, are clever and work hard. Walter Stock has a new monologue which he aets off in his inimitable stylo, and it is unnecessary to state that he k,.p the audience in a roar almost tlie entire time that he is on the statre. John Ilouan h;is yomethinir new, and the Brothers Smith, English acrobat, close the i or forma nee with their acrobatic fonts, which are novel and the best ever seen here.'
