We seldom fear a danger that we cannot see. The danger of being run-down by a horse is a very real one to everybody, the danger of being murdered by a microbe
does not trouble us. And yet the minute microbe is more dangerous than the wildest horse. The only people who can afford not to fear the mi
crobes of disease are those
who keep their blood pure
and rich. 1 hese are prac
tically immune from the
attacks of most microbes.
Dr. Pierce's Golden Medical Discov

gives the body a vigorous vitality. It cures scrofula, eczema, boils, pimples and other eruptive diseases which are
caused by impure blood.
"I had been troubled for about four vears with
eczema, or a skin disease, which at times was almost unbearable as it would itch so," writes
Mr. John Lanson. 01 115 rownattan St., Dallas, Texas. "I concluded to try Dr. Pierce's Golden

Crawford Fairbanks, the millionaire Terre Haute brewer, who is the close friend and business associate of Chairman Taggart, has returned from New York, where he spent the last two weeks. Like Joe T. Fanning, who was here a few days ago, he refutes the stories about the disaffection of the leaders at the national committee headquarters. He indicates that Taggart Is as near the whole show there as it is possible for a man to be. He
also save out a positive statement
that Taggart will return to Indianap
olis next Thursday or Friday, which
is welcome to the Democratic lead
ers.
Governor Durbin was expected back
today from his hunting trip in South
Dakota with ex-Attorney General W,
L. Taylor and Ernest Tripp. No
stories about the big game they have
landed have preceded them, but as the governor and Tripp are rated as crack shots, it is very likely that they
landed their share. The governor will
not remain long In Indiana, as he is
arranging to go to Boston to a meet-
ig of thirty-third degree Masons. He
expects to be actively engaged in the
work of the campaign, however, by the
first of October:

Southern Indiana Railroad Will Get
Into Chicago.
Chicago, Sept. 10. The Southern
Indiana railroad has perfected all arrangements to run into Chicago. Ter
ritory was arranged for the Indiana line a year ago, but it was not until today that the organization perfected
Its plan ' of entering this city. The
arrangement was made by the forma
tion of a company which is to build the tracks on the section of the road
from the Indiana state line to Chicago,
This separate organization is an Illinois corporation called the Chicago
Southern railway, whose stockholders
will be the same as those of the Southera Indiana, the, parent company. The Southern Indiana railway, which owns 146 miles of tracks, penetrates the coal regions of Indiana. When the
line is completed to Chicago it is ex
pected It will become a considerable
factor In the bituminous coal market

After these figures it is surprising . 1 -r t
to find but iO Jews in tne. Hawaiian
Islands. It is estimated that there are 100 Jews in Torto Rico, and no more
the Philippines. Perhaps the fact
that the Spanish merchant class is reputed to be more acute in business transactions than the traders of any other nation may explain this small representation of the Jews in these
islands. Of the states in the Union,
Idaho and Nevada are credited with 300 Jews each, while Vermont con
tains but 700 and Delaware but 928.
In Palestine there are estimated to
be 78,000 Jews according to a calcu
lation made for the "Verm tur Judische Statistik." Thus two states in the Union have a greater Jewish population than the Promisel Land. The
immigration figuures for 1903 show that in 1902-03 58,079 Jews entered
the port of New York, of whom 30,-
536 were Russians, 18,113 Austrians,
8,314 Roumanians, 527 Germans, 271
Turks, 233 English, 35 Dutch, 28 French, 12 Swedes, 5 Scotch, and 5 South Americans.
