CITY HEALTH FOE AUGUST
MONTHLY EEPORT IS ISSUED BY DR. DAVIS 12 TYPHOID CASES And Every One Recovered Save Two That Are Still Sick-Health Statistics. The health report of the - City Health Officer for the month of August has been issued. On the general health of the city the report says that the sanitary condition of the city has a great deal to do with the excellent health of the city in general. Richmond has seldom before been in such a healthy condition, and this is due in great part to the work of sanitation that has been carried on with increased vigor in the past year. The sanitary inspectors have done their work well, and the results are very beneficent. As to typhoid fever, of which there has been an epidemic, slight, but alarming at times, in the past few months, the report ' says : In the month of August there have been twelve cases of typhoid fever in Richmond, a number larger than it has been for several years. Of these twelve cases, there aie two at present. All of the other cases have recovered, and the patients are now entirely convalesced and in good health again. There have been no deaths during the month from this disease. In a statistical way the report says: During August there were forty births 25 males and 15 females; twentysix deaths 8 males and 18 females. There were five cases of consumption, or one in four. In Praise of Chamberlain's Colic, Cholera and Diarrhoea Remedy. lt Allow me to give you a few words in praise of Chamberlain's Colic, Choi era and Diarrhoea Remedy," says Mr. John Ilamlett, of Eagle Pass, Texas. "I suffered one week with bowel trouble and took all kinds of medicine without getting any relief, when my friend, Mr. C. Johnson, a merchant here, advised me to take this remedy. After taking one dose I felt greatly relieved and when I had taken the third dose was entirely cured. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for putting this great remedy in the hands of mankind." Organize a Republican Club. Indianapolis, Sept. 3. There are 6.300 Republican commercial travelers in Indiana who are to organize for the coming campaign. This organization, or, rather, reorganization, began in Indianapolis last night, when a meeting of the Commercial Travelers' Republican club was held in room 128 of the Engish hotel. It was decided to retain the old name so the club could get the $16 loft over from the last national campaign, when the club, 500 strong, marched in parade on the occasion of the visit of Roosevelt to Indianapolis. Frank Wells was chosen president; T. E. Potter, first vice-president; Charles A. Ross, second vice-president; W, II. Nichols, secretary; C. P. Aten, treasurer; W. A. Walker, chairman of the membership committee; A. B. Conkle, F. F. Fox, W. A. Bristor, Jefferson Caylor, K. O. Hert and George K. Stephenson, directors. When A. A. Womack was appointed as chairman of the committee to secure a permanent hall for meeting, it was remarked that if no other place could be found the club would pitch a tent somewhere. The club will meet again next Saturday night at 8 o'clock in room 116 of the English hotel, when thorganization will be perfected A question brought up for'consideration t last night's meeting was a trip to Columbus, Ind., October 1, when The question will be brought up later. The letter of Miss Merkley,
whose picture is printed above, proves beyond question that thousands of cases of inflammation of the ovaries and womb are annually cured by the use of Lydia E Pinkham's Vegetable Compound. "Dkab Mrs. Ptnkham: Gradual loss of strength and nerve force told me something was radically wrongs with me. I had severe shooting pains through the pelvic organs, cramps and extreme irritation compelled me to seek medical advice. The doctor said that I bad ovarian trouble and ulceration, and advised an operation. I strongly objected to this and decided to try Liydia E. Pinkhain's Vege table Compound. I soon found that my judgment was correct, and that all the good things said about this medicine were true, and day by day I felt less pain and increased appetite. The ulceration soon healed, and the other complications disappeared, and in eleven weeks I was once more strong and vigorous and perfectly well. ' My heartiest thanks are sent to you for the great good you have done me."
