MARION
WOMAN
Writes Her Husband and Reunion is Effected. Marion, August 19. Influenced by a sermon delivered tvro weeks ago from the pulpit of the Christian Temple by the Rev. W. R. Bennett, Mrs. Emma Brady -wrote to her husband, from whom she had become estranged, telling him of her willingness to effect a reconciliation, and a happy reuniting of the man and woman in this city today was the result. v The sermon was a touching one to Mrs. Brady. After hearing it she went thoughtfully tc her home, and before she retired that night she had directed a letter to her husband, Richard F. Brady, who had gone to Yankton, S. D., after their separation. She related to him the effect of the sermon upon her and asked to be reunited with him. The husband was pleased. He came to Marion and today he returned to South Dakota with his wife. Mr. Brady, who was formerly a prominent eitizen of Marion, is now proprietor of a large hotel in the South Dakota town. Shortly after the separation of Brady and his wife she instituted divorce proceedings in a local court. She charged eruelty. The husband denied the allegations. He said that he held no ill feelings toward his wife, and that their differences were only due to influences of relatives. The court refused to grant the divorce, believing that a reconciliation could be effected at some time. Cholera Infantum Th disease has lost its terrors since Chamberlain's Colic, Cholera and Diarrhoea Remedy came into general use. The uniform success which attends the use of this remedy in all cases of bowel complaints in children has made it a favorite wherever its value has become known. For sale by A. G. Luken & Co., and W. H. Sudhoff, Fifth and Main streets. LETTER LIST. The following letters remain delin quent in the Richmond postoffiee: Ladies' List. Campbell, Eva. Cook, Miss A. ! Dolby, Mrs. Ferry, Mrs. Ella. In a few days it will have settled and the clear part maj' be poured off into other bottles. Potato peelings, if dried in the oven are said to be verv useful for fire kin ding. If sufficiently abundant they may be used instead of wood, but, in any case, they will economize it. Gallon bottles are best for gasoline and the careful woman will not bring them into the house at all. Unless one has a back yard or a porch, cleaning with these dangerous agents is best not undertaken at all. Lamb stew is very much improved by the addition of curry powder, especially if it is a rechauffee or "leftover." Made of cold roast meat, with fresh raw pottatoes and the curry, it becomes a delicious entree, deserving of a more euphonious name than "stew." When putting up candles, if they be not of the self-fitting order, it is a good plan to have by you some hot water and into this dip the bottom of each candle. This will soften the wax , so that it may be pressed down easi-
ly into the candlestick and it will neither want cutting nor binding around Avith paper to .hold it in its place. A creaking door has the most exasperating effect on some people's nerves and it ought never to be allowed to go on, for the remedy is so simple. Drop a little oil into the hinges and swing the door backward and forward to allow it to work down into them and the creaking will be a thing of the past. Apply the oil with a little can or with a feather. Old and shabby trays may be renovated by being painted with copal varnish mixed with bronze powder. Before beginning the painting, the trays must be well cleaned with soap and water and thoroughly dried. The varnish can be dried by placing the trays in the oven, but care ruust be taken that it is not too hot. Two or more coats of varnish, applied thinly, may
jbe necessary to produce a good ef fect. - Sick Headache. 'For several years my wife was troubled with what physicians called sick headache of a very severe character. She doctored with several eminent physicians and at a great expense, only to grow worse until she was unable to do any kind of work. About a year ago she began taking Chamberlain's Stomach and Liver Tablets and today weighs more than she ever did before and is real well," says Mr. Geo. E. Wrfght of New London, New York. For sale by A. G. Luken & Co., and W. H. Sudhoff, Fifth and Main streets. Eight Largest Diamonds. The eight largest diamonds in the world are what are known as crown jewels. Some of them are in an unset state and others are carefully cut and finished, so that there is a wide difference in their value. The Kohinoor, the smallest in weight has been thus reduced by cutting, and is much the most valuable of the lot, and has been estimated at less than $500,000. The list is as follows : The Braganza, part of the Portugal jeAvels, weighs 1,8S0 caratts; Kohinor, belonging to the English crown, 103 carats; Star of Brazil, 120 carats; Regent of France, 136 carats; Austrian Kairer, 139 carats; Russian Czar, 193 carats; Rajah of Borneo, 2G7 carats. AMUSEMENTS. Uncle Tom's Cabin. The element of sympathy is very pronounced, the pathos is genuine, and even the comedy is such as to make a distinct appeal. Chicago Record. The version of Uncle Tom's Cabin which Al W. Martin's big company will present at the Gennett this afternoon and evening is the original and is one of the purest and most instructive stories ever told. May Templeton, remembered for her clever work in many musical comedies, plays "Widow Clancy" in "Maloney's Weddirrg," which comes to the Gennett Theater next "Wednesday night. She lends to the part much histrionic abilitty and personal magnetism and her clever character creation is said to be inimitable as the coy wido v, the lady love of Dan Maloney, plaved bv James L.
