SOCIAL n The informal dance given by the young ladies making up the house party in the old Morton mansion, at Ceuterville, was- one of the gayest and most successful affairs of the midsummer season, and was attended by a large number of young society people from Richmond, with several friends of Miss Susan Kelsey and Miss Lucy Barnett, who are acting as chaperons. ' The house was charmingly decorated with old fashioned garden flowers, and the lawn was softly lighted with Japanese lanterns, the supper being served out of doors. The following ,were in attendance: Misses Susan Kelsey, Lucy Barnett, Florence Corwin, Ethel and Edith Taylor, Marie Campbell, Katherine Rettig, Hazel Reid, of the house party. Misses Hazel Murphy, Myra Coate, Ethel King, Merle Williams and Bertha Larsh, with Jhe latter's guests, Miss Lindsay, of Pittsburg, and Miss Shover and Miss Pease, of Indianapolis; and Miss Rothenberg, of Chicago, guest of Mrs. Harmon Myer. Messrs George Rettig, George Green, Walker Land, Tom Campbell, Lawrence Luken, Carl Pierson, Ramsey Poundstone, Wilson Magaw, Wayland Kelsey, Mather Kelsey, John Moore, Ben Bartel and Leslie Myers. Although an entirely informal function this Was one of the most enjoyable dances given this summer. Miss Martha Peelle, daughter of Judge Peelle, who built and was long a resident of the place kncfen as the old Morton mansion, Miss Peelle being the present owner, was also one of the guests. Miss Alice and Miss Edith Harvey and the Misses Jones, of North Eleventh street, spent the day yesterday with the Morton house party, returning before the dance. - d Mrs. J. W. Corwin and Mrs. W. K. Bradbury took tea with the members of the Morton house party yesterday. Mrs. George Williams, Mrs. Will Campbell, Mrs. Howard Campbell, Mrs. Judson Rupe, Mrs. F. H. Williams and one or two others went to Centerville yesterday afternoon to be guests of the young ladies of the house party for a few hours. The entire party with a number of young society men will attend the dance at Cedar Springs to be given tonight. Miss Lucile Gaar is entertaining at whist this afternoon in her home on North Fifteenth street, in honor of Mrs. Swisher's guests, Mrs. Wilmington and Mrs. Dickhut, of Indianapoils, and Miss Bryant, of Omaha, who is visiting Mrs. Charles Buntell. Miss Lucy Balfe and her mother who have been in the Philippines for the past three years, have returned for a short stay and are at their home on t South Seventeenth street.
