To be a successful wife, to retain the love and admiration of her husband should be a woman's constant study. If she would be all that she may, she must guard well against the signs of ill health. Mrs. Brown tells her story for the benefit of all wives and mothers. " Dear Mrs. Pinhham : Iiydia E. Iinkham's Vegetable Compound will make every mother well, strong-, healthy and happy. I dragged through tiina years of miserable existence, worn out with pain and weariness. I then noticed a statement of a woman troubled as I was; and the wonderful results she had had from your Vegetable Compound, and decided to try what it would do for me, and used it for three months. At the end of that time, I was a different woman, the neighbors remarked it, r-nd my husband fell in love with me all over again. It seemed lilze a new existence. I had -been suffering with inflammation and falling of the womb, but your medicine cured that, and built up my entire system, till I was indeed like a new woman. Sincerely yours, MRS. Chas. F. Brown, 21 Cedar Terrace, Hot Springs, Ark. , Vice President Mothers Club. $5000 forfeit if original of above letttl proving genuineness cannot be produced. TALKS OF KOREA WHERE SHE AND HUSBAND AND FAMILY LIVED CHILD OF DR. PARKER Of This City Coreans a More Cleanly People Than AmericansOther Information. Dr. Woodb ridge Johnson and wife, who have lived for six years in Korea, where their three children were born, have returined to this country, the doctor's health having become greatly impaired. Mrs. Johnson is a daughter of the Rev. Addison Parker, of this city, with whom she has been spending the summer. "My husband," said Mrs. Johnson, "was sent out by the Presbyterian board as a medical missionary to Taiku, Korea, and I went with him. Taiku is 100 miles north of Fusan. From Taiku to Seoul is a seven days' journey overland." "The rainy season in Korea," said Mrs. Johnson, ;is in the mouths of July and August. Sometimes it begins in the later part of June. When that is the case, it ends early in August. It is not a continuous rain during that. .season. It is rather a succession of freshets, with days between when the roads will be come dry again. But the roads are narrow, and when muddy are impassible for carts. "When my husband traveled anywhere he and those who went with him had to go single file over these roads. When we were building our house at Taiku we could not haul the lumber over these rough, narrow roads. All the material had to be carried on men's shoulders. "As far as the outside is concerned j the Koreans are a more cleanly poo- I pie than the Americans. Their cloth- i mg is simply immaculate, lhe women are kept busv washing. We once invited a young man to dinner. He came late and explained his non-arrival by saying that he had to wait until his suit had been washed, dried and ironed. He yas garbed in a kind of yellow silk gauze. The ironing process is one that takes time. The ironing is j done by beating the clothes with sticks. The linen is wound in a roll and then beaten. "I never saw any Russians in Korea. The Koreans know little about them, and have agreat dread of them. They have heard the Russians are a fierce and cruel people, and do not want to have anythinr to do yith them. The Koreans are a quiet, peaceable people. Thcv have their little rows and neighborhood quarrels, j but there is little tihtinr. When they , , , , ff ., . ,. uriuh. too inucn 01 meir nai i e , Irvine they -et boisterous, but their an-1 jrer usuallv pusses awav in a Hood of : abuse. Notwithstanding all that is done by boards of health and charitably inclined persons, the death rate among small children is very high during the hot weather of the summer j months in the large cities. There is I not probably one case of bowel complaint in a hundred, however, that ; could not be cured by the timely use !of Chamberlain's Colic, Cholera and Diarrhoea Remedy. Mr. -pnu , u; , xr v ?
