There are a great many hungry hearted women who would attend a baby sale if babies were ever offered for sale, because there are a great many wives who love children and have been told by physicians that they can never hope to nurse a child of their own. Some of these women who have used Dr. Pierce's Favorite Prescription" for the cure of womanly ills have been made happy mothers as a result of the cure of womanly disease and the building up of the general health. Doctor Pierce's Favorite Prescription makes weak women strong and sick women well. It establishes regularity, dries weakening drains, heals inflammation and ulceration and cures female weakness. I wrote to you some time ato to set information about mv case." says Mrs. Mary Lee Flanary, of Dryden, Va. "I was troubled with female weakness and pains. Received answer from vou. advisiu? me to take Doctor Pierce's Favorite Prescription and ' Golden Medical Discovery.' I took two Ijottles of 'Favorite Prescription ' and found it did me good. I had been married four years and had no children ; now I can say that our house is blessed with a little baby boy, born July ioth, by the help of God and your medicine. I praise your medicine highly. You cau publish this letter if you wish." Free. Dr. Pierce's Common Sense Medical Adviser is sent free on receipt of stamps to pay expense of mailing only. TWENTY PERSONS DEAD And Upwards of Forty in the List of Injured Cars Were Destroyed.
Litchfield, 111., July 3. Twenty persons were killed or burned to death and upwards of forty injured shortly before 7 o'clock tonight when the Chicago limited on the "Wabash railroad struck an open switch and was wrecked inside the city limits. The victims all perished in the fire which consumed seven of the nine cars which were wrecked. The injured are being cared for in the St. Francis hospital in this city. A partial list of the dead follows: St. Pierre V. Bald, Moneral, Canada. L. O. Eschadt, 1034 south Albany avenue, Chicago. Mrs. C. J. Luther, Milwaukee. Dan II. Davis, Decatur, 111. Joseph Harder, delegate from North Dakota. James Sanford, engineer, Decatur, Illinois. Sam Smith, fireman, Decatur, 111. Mrs. Perkins, 5700 Union avenue, Chicago. The Hon. I. Ti. Mills. Decatur, 111. The injured include the following: S. A. Asquivitch, "Waterloo, la., internally; William Archibald, Honey Falls, Ky. ; George Archibald; "Wil
iliam Balls, Chicago, fatally; Mrs.
Canyon, Milwaukee, internally;; Gles-
son P.. Walls, Marshfield, Wis.; James Fizzie, Taylorville, 111.; Harry M. Cassawav, St. Louis; Joseph
Grein; Lois Gehreg; Mrs. Theresa Gohreir. internally; Mrs. Anna Kenyon, Kington, Ky. ; Mi s. Gertrude Kitt, Chicago; Mary Kitt, age 10, burned; Joseph Kitt, age 12, burned; Wilsol Eunocht, Chicago, S. Livingston, conductor on train; G. S. Macober, Perry, Ky. ; Miss Huldah Ne-k, Arlington Heights, 111.; Harry Kink, Cincinnati: James D. Roberts, Gatlin, Ind.; E. TL Rose, Riverside, Cal., internally; Harry Ruben, Chicago: William J. Schrader, Chir-ago; Frank Smith, Chicago; Mrs. Frank Smith, Chicago; Miss Florence Smiili, Chicago; Mrs. Elizabeth Weber, Chicago, seriously, but not fatally; Charles Ward, Chicago, left leg torn off at ankle, seriously; W. T. Thorpe, neater, Pa., slightly injure!; Miss Fannie Tipson, badly bruised a::d internally hurt; Mrs. P. F. Tennoy, Ada, Minn., internally hurt; P. T. Tenncy, Ada, Minn., injured, baek spra'ned. . Even at midnight it was difficult to get any of the details of the disaster or its causes. The train -rtR due r.t St. Louis at 7 and was runniMg rapidly to make up a half ho'ir rf lost time. Just inside of the limits of Litchfield, the train rushed irto an open switch, derailing it. A!most immediately the cars caught fire, 1...1 it is supposed that coals from the engine caused it. All but two of the cars wee burned. The engine after running into ihe switch, struck a string of freight cars and, with the first three coaches. wa piled into a heap across the track and
caught fire immediately. The last car on the train was special from Wisconsin. It was uncoupled, pushed back and saved. The track was reported dear at the last station and as the train was run ning about fifty miles an hour I ha open switch was not noticed. No information can be obtained as to who was responsible for the accident. Interviews with several of the pas sengers elicited the information '.hat the train consisted of seven cars all heavily loaded with passengers. The three rear cars, a diner and two sleepers, were not derailed. The thcr four cars were piled up in an indiscriminate mass and with the crushed freight cars on the siding totk fire. A rumor spread that otm of the freight cars was loaded with explosives and for the time this h u' the effect of retarding the work of the rescuers. Dr. J. P. If. Fan-ell of Chicago, - ho was uninjured, at once went to ill,? work of directing the rescue and giving medical attention to the injured. Temporary hospital headquarters were hastily established in Litchfield and the injured were removed to it. It is probable that the exact number of dead will not be know nfor several days as the passengers here assert
that bodies were cremated in the burn ing debris. Nearly all the passengers were bound for St. Louis arid those not in
jured left on the Illinois Central train
an hour late. Three of the injured have since died. Coroner Gray is here and will hold an inquest. Mr. and Mrs. W. Batchelor of Chicago who were on the wrecked train, said tonight in speaking of Jie wreck : "We were in the chair ?ar in ftie rear of the train and it did not leave the traek. When the accident occurred the front car piled on the engine, took fire and burned. There were dead and injured people all around and it seemed to us that there were forty killed. We did not learn the cause of the accident nor the actual number of the dead and injured, as we took the Illinois Central train for St. Louis soon after the accident.
JACKSON PARK
The Scene of a Large and Highly Pleased Assemblage.
Mr. Frank Reagan's illustrated talk at Jackson Park Sunday proved a drawing card. A large number of people took advantage of the fine afternoon and took an outing at the park. The Milton Band furnished music which was greatly enjoyed because of its excellent quality. The half-hourly interurban service was greatly, appreciated by the patrons of the road and enabled the company to handle the crowd in a verv systematic wav.
"It's a biscuit" especially adopted for picnics and outings, "Faultless Soda," 10c.
A Very Close Call. "I stuck to my engine, although every joint and every nerve was racked with pain," writes C. W. Bellamy, a locomotive fireman, of Burlington,
Iowa. "I was weak and pale, without any appetite and all run down. jAs I was about to give up, I got a i bottle of Electric Bitters, and after I taking it, I felt as well as I ever did in my life." Weak, sickly, run
down people always gain new life, strength and vigor from their use. Try them. Satisfaction guaranteed by A. G. Luken & Co., price 50 cents.
Saved From Terrible Death. The family of Mrs. M. L. Bobbitt of Bargerton, Term., saw her dying and were powerless to save her. The most skillful physicians and every remedy used, failed, while consump-
j tion was slowly but surely taking her 1 life. In this terrible hour Dr. King's
New Discovery for Consumption turned despair into joy. The first bottle brought immediate relief and its continued use completely cured her. It's the most certain cure in the world for all throat and lung troubles. Guaranteed bottles 50c and $1.00. Trial bottles free at A. G. Luken & Co.'s drug store.
