FISHINir
SEASON
Streams of Wayne County Full of Bass.
Never before have the streams in Wayne county and eastern Indiana held so many bass as this summer. Fisliermen say this fact is due to the high waters of the early spring, and the continued swollen condition of the streams. Bass go up stream during periods of freshets, and they have come in great numbers from the larger rivers into the tributaries. Bass fishing has been unfavorable, however, for the reason that the waters were unsettled up to the time the spawning season began. Sportsmen of the rod, however, are anticipating great luck the remainder of the summer. The trolley lines have done much to facilitate the easy movements of the fishermen. The lines east and west out of Richmond carry great numbers of early morning anglers, especially on Sundays, when the streams in western Wayne county and just across the Ohio state line are objective points.
Hull have the contract to build Mrs. Joe L. King's residence on west Walnut street. Geo. W. Hull and family have left Olive Hill and become citizens of Centerville, occupying the property of James Nichols, east Walnut street. Mrs. C E. Cook of Indianapolis spent Sunday evening and Monday with her parents, J. II. Gentry and wife. George Leggett and wife of Champlain county, O., former residents of this place made a short visit to old friends Sunday evening.

For the New U. P. Church Nearly Completed.
The cellar for the new United Presbyterian church is now nearly completely excavated. Teams have been working for sevei-al days and all the dirt has been hauled away. A goodsized gang of men are at work and are rushing the excavation as fast as possible. The stones for the cellar walls and foundations of the church have all been delivered, and are dumped around the excavated cellar, waiting to be used. All interested in the work are well pleased with the progress shown.

DUBLIN. All vegetation is doing as well
could be wished for. If locust bloom is a sign or promise for a good crop of corn, then we may look for an overflow yield this
fall. Mr. and Mrs. Lew Charles, of Indianapolis, have been guests of relatives for some days. Thomas "Weed, of Indianapolis, was
the guest of friends here the latter part of the week. C. T. Swain was up at Newcastle
on a short stay last Wednesday.
Luke Fisher and son-in-law, Charles Day, from the northeast part of Wayne county, came down last week on some business affairs. They moved from this settlement early this spring. Mrs. "Wallace was over in Greenville. O.. a day or two last week. Mrs. Loder is on an extended visit among friends at Indianapolis. Mrs. W. H. Trusler has been on r. visit to her several daughters at Counersville of late. No demonstration was made on decoration day, save those who visited each of the cemeteries and placed a wreath of flowers as a token to those who enlisted in the army for the preservation of our land and nation. fTe is the next oldest man in Dublin
Jesse Dillon being some twelve days older. Mr. Green has retained his sight remarkably well, and can spa almost as well as when young, though his hearing is a little defective. He has been a resident of Dublin for a number rf years. His health, appe
tite, etc., are regular and 111 a good condition. Farm work is well advanced; corn is being plowed, with a good stand. Clover is coming out finely, much of
it being in bloom, and seems no later than in former years. Many of the wheat fields in this section will have i moderate crop, and the fruit prospect is good. After working on the gas well for nearly three weeks at the foundry, a pressure of 221 has been obtained, which if it holds out will be quite an
improvement. A social will be held in the M. E. church Thursday night. All cordially invited.
Prof. George Cox, who is engaged in the circulation and other interests of the Indianapolis Journal, in Richmond, was here over Sunday, his wife being here with "papa." J. V. Hoffman, during much of the vacation of her husband's school. The gas well at the foundry has been worked on now for several weeks. The piping was all taken out and water, as much as possible, bailed out. But the increase of gas so far is not encouraging. The Nathan Huddleston property as was advertised was sold on Friday last, and bid off to Josiah Reynolds at $815, which is considered very cheap, as the property is a very desirable one. Rodney Mohler, of Napoleon, O., was the guest of his friend, Miss Nelle Swain, over Sunday. Children's day entertainment Sunday evening at the Christian church was much of a success. The credit in great part is due to Miss Hazel McGrath for the part she took. A large audience was present. Cliff Ma?on started south Tuesday morning to distribute his celebrated
I Dublin Sealing Wax to the various
parties that generally buy of him. He has it shipped to various points and then with a horse and spring wagon, he puts it in smaller towns, where it is sold. Miss Lora Henley's Band of Mercy class has now reached the number of thirty, and will be more or less increased from time to time. This has
been an original undertaking or scheme of Miss Henley in which it looked to her as if something good
and permanent might grow out of it. !
Mr. and Mrs. Eh Jones, of Richmond, were over Sunday a week ago
on a visit to their stepmother, Mrs. ;
William Jones, on south Foundry street, and other members of the famiiy.
