CAUGHT AT LUNCHEON
While the British Officers Were Mating Sandwiches the Territic Onslaught Was Commence!.
Natives Were Apparently Ignorant of the Effect of Modern Fire-ari-is. London, April 2. The India office has Issued long dispatches sent by Col. Younghusband, commanding the British mission to Thibet, through Lord Curzon, viceroy of India, which confirm the story concerning the engagement between British and Tibetans near Guru Thursday. The dispatches add that a Lhassa general fired the first shot, thereby inciting the Tibetans to attack, and show that but for the fact that the Tibetans were so hemmed in that they could not use their weapons, the British loss might
have been much more serious.
Later dispatches show that so little was the onslaught expected that the
British officers were eating sandwich es and adjusting cameras. Mr. Cand
ler, correspondent of the Mail, was sitting unarmed writing. He had a narrow escape from death, receiving
twelve wounds. Col. Younghusband and his staff were not far distant and also were wholly unarmed, and it is evident that but for the personal courage and presence of mind of Col. MacDonald and his officers a terrible disaster might have occurred. The Tibetans displayed dogged fearlessness, apparently being incited by the smallness of the British force and ignorant of the effect of modern firearms, i
The whole affair occupied only ten minutes and, even in the retreat, the Tibetans disdained to scatter and -run, and marchfi solemnly in lines under a hail of tire. w- - Market report

Hakes iho Stomach Well and Keeps It So
I have the support of the entire tn dies! world in my declaration that dypepsia is not only the cause of most diseases, but is indirectly responsible for
many crimes and most failures. It is well known that the stomach controls the nerves and the nerves control the man. Who thinks for one moment that President Roosevelt would have attained his high office had he been dyspeptic or a sufferer of any nervous or stomach trouble. The fact is his healthy stomach has given him a healthy mind and a robust body. He can work eighteen hours without fatigue, and then go to bed and sleep peacefully and sound. r Grover Cleveland was another great Worker who owed his success to his stomach. Statistics show that nearly all successful men have been free from indigestion, .while court records prove that a large percentage of failures and crimes, both in business and professional life, can be traced to some stomach or physical ailment. My advice to persons who would lead in any vocation and to all who would be successful and happy look well to your stomach. Don't abuse it. Respect it, and treat it as your best friend. If your stomach is already impaired, if you have dyspepsia or any form of indigestion or nervousness, I can do no greater service than to urge you to take my l'aw-Paw Remedy. This remedy is a vegetable pepsin which digests most everything it touches; its effect upon stomachs that have become sore and irritated is most remarkable. It quickly soothes and heals stomachs that . have been weakened by .cathartics and harmful drugs. I wish to state most emphatically that if you will take l'aw-Paw you will not be troubled with any inconvenience or distress after eatinfr. I will guar
antee that your food will not sou that you will not bloat, that you will have no dizzy spells, no cold hands or feet, that you will have no more heart palpitations or headaches, that you will be free from nervousness and be able to enjoy a good night's sleep. These are strong statements, I know, but no stronger than the facts warrant. Columns upon columns of testimonials have been published in the past month and all tell the same story.
Druggists have publicly declared they never handled a remedy that made such remarkable cures; as a tonic to the weak and debilitated it is truly a blessing. It gives rest and vigor to the overworked, strength to the weak and hope to the lepressed. I earnestly ask every person who is ailing, who is nervous, and all those who feel the need of a strengthening tonic to lay aside all other medicines, all other tonics and beverages and take Paw-Paw according to directions. You will soon be able to eat heartily and digest all that you eat; your nervousness will soon leave you, and you will soon be able to sleep peacefully and soundly. Don't resort- to alcoholic stimulants when you feel weak or depressed, but depend upon Paw-Paw. It gives exhilaration without intoxication. It will lift you into the high altitude of hope and hold you there. Munyon. At all druggists. Large bottles, $1. Paw-Paw Laxative Pills, 25c cents ft bottle.
