New Chwang. March 26. The Liao
river became navigable yesterday
and shipping agents have received notices of the departure of vessels
from ports along the entire coast of
China for New Chwang.
The Russian military authorities
have issued an order regulating ship
ping at this port. The order provides
that all incoming vessels must ancner
five and one-half miles below the fort
and can proceed into the harbor only
between the hours of 6 a. m. ana b p. m., after undergoing an examination
of DaDers and cargo.
The merchants here are protesting
against' the order in the hope that
shiDS will be permitted to ancnor
within two miles of the foreign settle

Opposing Forces Are Taking Each Other's Measure. London, March 26. A dispatch from Ping Yang, Korea, says that returns to the Japanese intelligence department show that 4,500 Cossacks nf the Russian infantry crossed the
Yalu river from Antung during the last five days. Three thousand Russians are holding Anju, Korea, and 1,000 are at a stragetic point on the Korean bank of the Yalu, and the returns also state that 500 members of the Russian infantry and Cossack proceeded southward and now occupy Chun-Ju, Korea. The Russians are reported to be holding the north bank and the Japanese the south bank of the Anju river, where the latter have thrown up intrenchments. The hostile forces are thus face to faro and desultory shots have al
ready been exchanged. " Thus far there have been few casualties. A St. Petersburg dispatch says that General Altavater, inspector of artillery for the Russian army, has been banished to a remote militarr post, because the new quick-firing guns which Altavater informed the czar would be ready in three months cannot be on hand before the year is over. When the czar demanded an explanation, Altavater replied that he had said nothing fur
ther regarding the matter, as he tearcd to bother his majesty with details.

Proper Treatment of Pneumonia. Pneumonia is too dangerous a disease for anyone to attempt to doctor himself, although he may have the nroner remedies at hand. A physician
should always be called. It should be
borne in mind, however, that pneumo
nia always results from a cold or
from an attack of the grip, and by the proper treatment of these diseases a threatened attack of pneumonia
may be warded off. There is no question whatever about this, as during the thirty years and more that Chamberlain's Cough Remedy has been
used, we have yet to learn of a single case of a cold or attack of the grip having resulted in pneumonia when this remedy was used. It is also used by physicians in the treatment of pneumonia with the best results. Dr. W. J. Smith, of Sanders, Ala., who is
also a druggist, says of it: "I have been selling Chamberlain's Cough Remedy and prescribing it in my
practice for the past six years. 1 use it in cases of pneumonia and have al-
xvays gotten the best results." bold
