SPECIAL REVIVAL SERVCES
AT THE FIRST M. E. CHURCH.
A great audience heard Evangelist
iveea at uie .first Methodist Episcopal church last night on "Some Plain Truths About the Dance." For one
hour and a half the large audience
was , held in rapt attention as the
speaker proceeded with his terrible
indictment of the dance and its evil
tendencies. He stated that there is
not an evangelical Christian church in
the world that does not condemn this
evil. Some local conorpo-;,,
tolerate Jt, but they are untrue to
the great body of the church which
they represent.
The address was clean and strong
and was pitched upon a high plane
No honorable person could take of
fense at the utterances. The snirlt nf
he speaker was admirable. IIis ar
raignment was of the dance and not
of the dancer. He drew largely from
11s experience as a slum worker in
,iverpool, England, for his illustraions. v At the close of the meeting a num
ber of young people came forward
and took the evangelist by the hand
and said that they felt that they could never dance again.
The address ought ,to be heard by
all the young people of Richmond.
The evangelist preaches again this
evening at 7:30. .There have been
forty-four conversions since the be
ginning of the meetings.
