m use incuts Don't place yourself in a position to say after tqnight: "I wish I had gone to the Gennett to see Theo. Krenier's great play, "For Her Chilllren's Sake." To those who really appreciate a good play, filled with thrilling situations, deep feeling and a vein of farce comedy free from "slap stick" and vulgar "horse play, "For Her Children's Sake" offers all that cvan be desired. The play appeals to those who hold that "tiLDfiyLETfCfUr W77f YOU. 'Tor Her Children's Sake." there is good in everything and that true mirth will at last be appreciated at its true value. Messrs. Sullivan, Harris and Woods have expended a large six min equipping the play Avith scenic accessories and the interpreting company is far above the average. The talented Sheedy children Avill make their first appearance in this city tonight. If you Avitness "For Her Children's Sake" you will remember it pleasantly for seasons to come. While many are wondering Avhat the outcome Avill be in regard to the "pavilion" at Glen Miller park and others are equally "exercised" about the raising of the C, G. & L. bridge over Main street, there are others who philosophically say, "Just let things alone for a Avhile and" it Avill all come "out of the Avash" to the satisfaction of eA-erybody. At least that's Avhat I am going to do. ThroAV dull care to the Avinds and cheer up. The Jefferson's, Joseph, jr., and William II., will be in the city tomorrow, and Avill present "The Rivals" at the Gennett theater, matinee and eA'ening. Good advice, truly, for a better comedy or better players are not offered to cities the size of Richmond eA'ery season. Since their visit here last season the Jeffersons haA-e taken a great liking to the' city and its people, and the people certainly reciprocate and will testify their regard at the Gennett theater tomorroAv afternoon and evening. Articles admitted to the United States free of duty make up 45 per cent, in value of the imports. The mortality from consumption in German cities is now only four-sevenths that of tAventy-five years ago. There are noAv living in the royal aquarium, in Russia, seAeral carp that are said to be more than 600 years old. AREYOUw LUNG5 WEAK? ft . mmmn iSVr, MlHJ fllU ; JjU WMiiWWj, CURES LUNGS

FIRE With Itching, Burning, Scaly Humors of the Skin Instantly Relieved by Baths with Guticura Soap And Gentle Applications 'of Guticura Ointment. Instant relief and refreshing sleep for Bkln-tortured babies, and rest for tired, fretted mothers, in warm baths with Cuticura Soap and gentle anointings with Cuticura Ointment, the great skin cure, and purest of emollients, to be followed in severe cases by mild doses of Cuticura Resolvent. My niece's little baby boy, two years old, was so badly afflicted with eczema that he needed constant watching. It was all over his face and he scratched the sores constantly. Mornings his clothes would be stained with blood, and his face and hands would be covered. His family never could take him out, as his face was always full of large sores. They bad medical treatment, and tried everything they heard of. She commenced using the Cuticura Remedies last spring and found that at last she had a wonderful healer. The sores left his face and he was entirely cured, and now his face is as smooth and rosy as though no sore had ever been there to mar it." Mks. L. J. ROOT, ' , - Jekusalem, N. Y. Feb. 12, 1898. On March 7, 1903, five years later, Mrs. Root writes : . , . "I received your note of kind inquiry and am pleased to inform you of the permanent cure of my little boy. Soil Wet ana Dry. Wet soil assumes a darker color than dry because its particles thus become semitransparent, as is the case also with a piece of Avetted tissue paper or ground glass. This change of color is due to the fact that the interstices between the grains of soil are filled with Avater, so that the number of reflecting surfaces, which in a dry condition scatter and break up the light, are greatly reduced in number. It folloAVs that the total amount of light reflected to the eye is correspondingly diminished. In short, as the color shade of an object depends upon the proportion of light that is reflected for all the light that falls upon it, dry soil is lighter in shade than A-et, which reflects less light. That portiou of incident light which Avct soil fails to reflect penetrates below the surface, where it is lost or absorbed. Flower of tlie Air. There is a plant in Chile and a similar one in Japan called the "floAver of the air." It is so called because it appears to haA'e no root Imd is never fixed to the earth. It twines round a dry tree or sterile rock. Each shoot produces tAvo or three flowers like a lily white, transparent and odoriferous. It is capable of being transport e5 COO to 700 miles and vegetates aB it travels suspended on a twig.
