O. G. MURRAY Lessee and Manager Friday, Feb. 6 Joseph C. Logan presents Mr. Clay Clement In his own Unique Idjllic Comedy THE NEW A REAL, TRIUMPH DOMINION A Love Story of the Southland. Pure in Tone. Elevating in Character. Excellent Cast. PRICES 25c, 50c, 7Zc and 1.0o Sale of Seats opens at Nixon's Confection ery, t06 Main, Wednesday, Feb. 24. "Under Southern Skies." . (Toledo Times.) "Under Southern Skies," a pret ty story of every day life in the south which was the vehiee in which Urace Georjre first rode into favor as a star was given at the Lyceum last evening witli a tlioromrhlv competent com pany. The play was to have opened at a matinee out me company ju amiing from Jackson, Mich., missed connections Detroit and failed to arrive in time. The performance last evening ran smoothly and greatly pleased a good sized audience. This is the first time the play has been given in Toledo at popular prices and is surely a treat for the patrons of the Lyceum. It is a sweet and touching drama of heart interest with natural instincts and with a genuine love story running throughout that adds a decided fla- ( vor. The cast is an exceptionally good one with Sarah Lewis as the star. Tt will he repeated every night during the remainder of the week with a matinee on Saturday. At Gennett soon. "New England Folks." Harry La Marr the star of the neAV rural comedy, "New England Folks" which is announced for production at the Gennett this evening is a rising young comedian who although on the stage for many years, first came into prominence when he assumed the role of Aunt Abby in Neil Burgess's "The Count j" Fair." , In his new play Mr. La Marr's opportunities for comedv far excel those in the Bur gess play for in Mrs I'ulty his new origi nal character, that of the New Eng land widow of very few words, the lines are more crisp, the situations more ludicrous, and the action cleaner and brighter in every way. The love scene between Mrs. Puffy and the "Hardshell" Baptist minister, is one of the most mirth provoking bits of the performance. Many musical numbers and excellent specialties are introduced by the star and his comedians. Each time that Mr. Clay Clement appears in this city it is a fresh triumph. Last night at the Masonic Theatre Mr. Clement opened a week's engagement in "The New Do J. i t hi 9 5 Is" "A i Ok 1 tV1 "5 5 'S-t 1, - ( '

minion," and was given One oC the most enthusiast if welcomes that has been accorded an actor at this house during the present season. Mrs. Clement is excellent as Flora chorea ter of the Baron is the most artistic part of the play, and so well does he conceive the rart that the audience finds difficulty in realizing that it is not beholding the Baron instead of the actor. Mrs. Clements is excellent as Flora May Randolph, and Miss Sallie Cameron, a former Louisville girl, is delightfully natural as Mrs. Norman Randolph. Miss Margaret Ingels, of Paris, Ky., takes the role of Martha, a mountain girl, and presents the character in a pleasing guise. Misss Mignon Oxer makes a charming Mrs. Dulaney. Louisville Post, Feb. 2, 1004. Gennett theatre tomorrow evening. Ben Hur to be Staged in Dayton. Tlie greatest love' seene in General Wallace's impressive spectacle, "Ben Hur," occurs in the scene showing the lake in the Orchard of Palms. It is to this picturesque spot that "Ben Hur" flies to, from the tent of Shiek Ilderim, while his friends feast in celebration of his acknowledgement by Simonides, the merchant Prince and former slave of the House of Hur in Judea. Ben Hur is lured by the song of the Egyptian enchantress Iras. She seeks to keep him from his duty and to make him forget his love for Esther, the daughter of Simonides. Fascinated by Iras, Ben Hur sails with her upon the lake and returns not to the feast and his friends. Tired of awaiting his return, Simonides and Esther depart from Antioch. As they are borne by the lake in the Orchard of Palms in their litters, they see Ben Hur with Iras in the barge. A cry of anguish escapes Esther she loves Ben Hur. The staging of Ben Hur in Dayton at the Victoria Theatre for six
nights and two matinees starting Thursday evening, Feb. 25th, is one of the most important events in the amusement history of this district. Several of the most prominent persons of the city are arranging Ben Hur parties to go toDayton to witness it, so it will be well to write ahead now, and secure desirable seats. Manager Miller of the Victoria Theatre in Dayton promises to pay special attention to all mail orders from this city when accompanied by remittance. Given Passengers for the South.
